Transcription Congratulations to Lance Corporals Davis and Langsford
on their recent promotion.
We all welcome the newcomers to Detmold: Privates
Biundell and Berryman, Lance Corporals Elliot and Anderson
and Corporal Buckley. A special welcome to Fus Duggan who
is attached to us from I RWF and intends to transfer into our
Corps as a Storeman.
And finally, Privates Joe Tyrrell, Taffy Wynne and Brough
must have a mention for being responsible for the arrest of an
arsonist in London whilst on leave at Tyrrell's home. Having
seen a man break into and set fire to a shop they followed him
until close to a Police Station where they informed the police
who promptly arrested him. Well done!
i-'inally we welcome to the Corps Lance Corporal Ian
-., .an on transfer from the Royal Artillery and to Private
i Toomey from the Apprentices College.
ORDNANCE
COMPANY
from our Special Correspondent exercising with the US Army
^onwwhere in Southern Germany.
AT the beginning of the month the unit organized a coach trip
Jo Wunderland (a pleasure park near Hannover), Most enjoyed
the amusement rides others couldn't keep off them!
Earlier this month the Company deployed on a work up
exercise to practise movement and deployment drills, following
this the Company exercised its alternative role as infantry by
,-• viding the enemy for 20 Armoured Brigade pre exercise warm
i( raining.
Life isn't always serious, before departing on the current
exercise, the Wives Club held a netball match against a select
team from the Company. All players were in fancy dress on the
theme of St Trinians, The game was followed by a BBQ and a
fancy dress competition for children. The results were: Susanne
Lambert third, Gary Botfield second and Lucy Southern first.
The Company is aL present on exercise with 3 US Division
in Southern Germany supporting 20 Armoured Brigade. During
the first weekend of the exercise a tug-of-war competition,
organised by the Company on behalf of the Brigade Head-
j irters, was held. Most units in the Brigade competed and the
j..indards were as varying as the cap badges.
The Company having entered one 560 and two 640 teams
acquitted itself very well. The 560 team were runners up to
93 Battery (Le Cateau) 25 Field Regiment RA.
In the catch weight where teams can be of any weight
4 ADOC 'A' again came runners up to 93 Battery but not until
after some fierce competition with eight other teams.
Rumour control has been saying our performance on the
work up exercise was such that the Company will be providing
:vi Infantry Company as part of 20 Armoured Brigade during
e final phase of their FTX with the Americans in Southern
v lermany.
