JULY has arrived and wilh it the return
of our ROWO, Ken Marchant from the
rigours of Belize where he has been on
detached duty for the past four months;
the change in climate even in July, was
like coming back to the Arctic Circle.
Our new S03 Materiel Major Jim
Wright (Retd) has at last arrived fresh
from his resettlement leave ex-OSU Bur-
scough, welcome Jim and we hope you
soon find your new house.

Wooiley, has been seen walking back
home in the evenings whispering something about ERSP and
having his KD clothing freshly starched. Not to worry Staff it
may never happen,
The CRAOC, Lieutenant Colonel Connolly, is off to BAOR
to visit 51 Company TAVR who are at Camp in Bielefeld this
year—no doubt we shall see on his return the familiar sight of
the King Edward Cigar smoke drifting down the corridor.

SATO DEPARTMENT
RA RANGE
MESSAGE to the rest of the world. What is very long, heavy
and obsolete and comes in wooden boxes. Well you may ask—
we did. Luckily someone who could read markings came up
with the answer—Honest John. Four of them arrived on the
' mail' boat with the notices ' Do not return to sender/ So
armed with crow bar. sledge hammer and a team of gunners,
Staff Sergeant John Wiggell set about building a rocket. Luckily
it actually went down the range in the proper direction, leaving
behind the launcher (British, American and Canadian gunners
please note).
Brigadier Smith GM, COO UKLF and Lieutenant Colonel
Connolly, CRAOC Scotland, came north to see us and were
guests at an RAOC Association buffet. The buffet was also an
occasion to say farewell to WOs2 Pete Jackson and Arthur
Burns. ' Q ' Burns however is still with us after a short exten-
sion of tour and is currently cursing Records and building a raft
of pallet wood!
Our next visitor was DLSA himself, Brigadier Cowdry, who
had a look round SATO Department and the Photographic
Section. To cap the occasion (ballistic cap?) there was a Range
Barbecue where the SATO Major Scourfield-Evans presented
DLSA with a Range plaque. If any of our regular readers
are wondering what has happened to Sergeant Keith Burton it
must be put on record that he has finally been hooked and
reeled on the matrimonial line. We all wish him and his wife,
Wendy the very best for the future.
TTiis is the voice from the wilderness signing off. Anyone
finding the message please return the bottle, we need the deposit.
The Quartermaster General Sir Patrick Howard-Dobson presenting
Staff Sergeant John Bishop with his Long Service and Cood
Conduct Medal outside the Headquarters of the Supply Sub-Depot.
Frend has spent considerable time building some contraption
outside FDS which appears to be a pigeon loft. He has six
pigeons in -it, going on nine, as three eggs have been laid so far.
All ranks of the Supply Sub-Depot and a few selected
guests sat down to a sumptuous Ladies Dinner Night in the
Wardroom Club. It was not, as some people suspect, a wel-
come home party for Staff Sergeant John Bishop who has been
away on numerous courses, but the beginning of the Supply
Sub-Depofs summer activities. The die hards did not even see
the passing of the night as dawn had broken when they
eventually left.
In; Staff Sergeant Collins, Corporal Sheehan.
Out: Staff Sergeant Watson, Corporals Diskin and Kendall
and Lance Corporal Bayley.

ORDNANCE
BRANCH
THERE is not a vast amount to report
this month from the Branch except to state
that the two * movers * of the month have
been Major Alan Pollard and Major John
Evans. Major Alan Pollard visited BAOR
in June to plan TAVR training with Head-
quarters BAOR (Ord), 1 (BR) Corps Stores
Company, 154 FAD, and 3 BAPD. Major
John Evans, our * membre d'honneur' of the
Old Comrades Association of the ' o n e and
only' Legion fitrangere visited Morocco (Rabat), Tunisia (Tunis)
and London and Aldershot as escorting officer for ' l a Republique
Unie de Cameroun,' at the BAEE Exhibition, in his capacity as
interpreter in French and German. Rumours that he might
visit the Lebanon in the near future are all true.
He is shortly to act as escorting officer to the British,
German and French Defence Ministers at Ditchley Park, followed
by another trip to Tunisia, and a trip to Germany to interpret
for RMA Sandhurst at the battlefield tour studying the Remagen
Bridge crossing*
He also works, in the meantime, and quite vociferously may
I add, as the S02 (Materiel) in Ordnance Branch, Headquarters
UKLF.
We say welcome to Private Martyn Wright, Royal Regi-
ment of Wales, on transfer to the RAOC as a staff clerk and
farewell to our UKLF Senior Fire Adviser, Mr Bill Rogers—
this Mucky arsonist' about to be posted to Liibbecke—lucky
' Brandstifter' that he is—we wish him all the very best in his
future appointment
Brigadier Smith COO UKLF is presented w i t h a Range Plaque by
Major Scourficld-Evans.

WE recently sent Private Cape well and his wife Gail, packing
down to Bicester complete with book on etiquette and camera
to see Her Majesty during the Royal visit to Bicester. We don't
know if it went to Private Capewell's head or not but he keeps
checking the mail and mumbling something to the effect, "Just
wait until we are invited to the palace."
