Transcription We have over the past two months had our share of visits
., n d u has been noted that most of our visitors tend to carry
'he -ime essential articles with them, namely fly hat f rod and
tell. Lieurenant Colonel Ellis the Deputy Inspector came up
here tor the Technical Inspection. He also mixed business with
pleasure and was our guest at an RAOC Association Dinner, and
it is rumoured, managed to catch a fish this year. All credit
for an excellent evening must go to Staff Sergeant Brian Reid
our Association Secretary for his hard work which did not stop
there. Two weeks later the Association were back for another
tipple and buffet when Brigadier Smith and CRAOC Scotland
were our guests for the evening. This particular evening has
come to be known as ' Pass the plaque night.' It started quite
normally with Major Sco urn eld-Evans SATO, the chairman of
th».: Benbecula Association presenting Brigadier Smith with a
plaque on the occasion of his visit Followed by one for the
CRAOC. A few minutes later W02 Pete Jackson presented W02
Arthur Burns (SAT) with a plaque. Not to be outdone Q Burns
then presented a plaque to Q Jackson as he is leaving shortly.
(The Q\ mutual admiration society!) Quite a confusing time
for the photographer.
To W02 Pete Jackson who moves to Germany we wish all
the best of luck. We also welcome W02 Bob Hanbidge who
has just arrived and hope he enjoys his stay.

CONTINUING the nautical exploits of
our CRAOC, Colonel Richard Cooke, the
month started with a day visit by him,
accompanied by the S02 O/A, Lieutenant
Colonel Keith Holtby and the Chief
Clerk, to the Royal Marines Exercise
Spread Eagle 78. Not content with this
the CRAOC is at present somewhere on
the Baltic Sea on the adventure training
Exercise Twin Tela.
Before departing on this exercise however, the CRAOC
had much pleasure in presenting the Long Service and Good
Conduct Medal to Sub-Officer John Taylor of the Army
Fire Brigade Station at Bordon.
We say goodbye to Captain Bob Laws on who is leaving
to take over command of 1 (BR) Corps Vehicle Company
and, in his place, welcome Captain Bryden Ritchie, who has
just finished three years at Manchester University and who is
at present fully occupied with the tasks of taking over the
SO 3 Materiel task and trying to remember which hand to
salute with!
In the Supply Depot we say goodbye to Sergeant Dave
Oliver and welcome WOl Gareth Davies as Depot Supervisor
(no dues out on leeks and daffodils from now on).
DOWO had a good month, going on leave (again!) and
receiving a posting order to London District.
Someone enjoying our southern weather and amenities is
Staff Sergeant Ken Hudson (Chief Clerk GSD) who has
extended his detachment from Bicester to a full tour.
And finally Staff Sergeant Brian Smith (Chief Clerk G
Trg) spent his pay rise on a new Super GT Deluxe Model
car and has been informed that he will have to find a new car
park!

STORES SECTION

THE Stores Section came into being on 1st January this year
when the Unit changed its role from that of a Light Regiment
to become a Guided Weapons Regiment and thus, the LAD
became a Workshop.

W02 Walt Evans receives his Long Service and Good Conduct
Medal from the COC South West District.
There has been a great deal of effort and hard work gone
into the setting up of the Section and this task befell WOIC,
W02 Jim Dyer, Corporals Taff Rocke, Ernie Haigh, Jock
Drummond, Aif Babington and Jock Gemmell who all played
their part.

Sergeant Charlie Orr, Sergeant Derek Griffiths, Corporals Dave
Campbell and Dave Clink, Lance Corporals Steve Sugden

As you can see WOl Ron Martin has been appointed
Conductor RAOC but it's only a short lived experience as
Ron is leaving the Army after twenty three years. Con-
gratulations Ron on the first event and best wishes for the
future.
We would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm
welcome to the new arrivals who have joined our happy little
team and a special word of thanks to our civilian colleagues who
on occasions have to do not only their own jobs, but ours as
well.
