St Barbara's School visits the local Fire Station.
the league now resulting in one win one draw and one defeat
However, the side is through to the next round of the BAOR
Minor Units Cup after a good win against 38 Squadron RCT
at Mulheim and we await the next round of the draw with
anticipation.
Three games have been played against local
German teams each resulting in victories for the Station. The
rugby side have not been so successful but perhaps their day will
come. They show tots of enthusiasm for the game but un-
fortunately have, so far been unable to turn this into favourable
results.
To a recent Ladies Dinner Night in the Officers Mess we
were pleased to welcome Commander Rhine Area Brigadier
Thornton and his wife and the Director Ordnance Services,
BAOR. Brigadier Whalley and his wife.
The Commanding
Officer Lieutenant Colonel Sharland having welcomed the guests
took time out to say goodbye to three members of the Officers
Mess shortly to depart the Station, Captain John Boilers, Cap-
tain Tony Hayward and Mr Ray Sambrook our PSA represen-
tative.
HEADQUARTERS
RAOC
A MONTH of farewells: not the result of* Harden-
ing and Reducing Study' but of Posting Orders.
SSM Tony Mottram moves down the road to
Headquarters RAOC, Corps Troops and Staff
Sergeant Keith Honeysell and his family go further
afield to Headquarters BAOR. Their farewell party
was being organised by Staff Sergeant Dai Green
when a third Posting Order arrived sending Dai
and family to Headquarters RAOC 3rd Armoured
Division so he was then organising his own farewell! It will
soon be SQMS Green—well done!
Captain Glenn Gillolt can often be seen and heard on long
training runs muttering German phrases. This is because he
competes in the Bielefeld Marathon soon and is also attending
the Basic German Course. Good luck in both venturas Glenn—
preparations for the Slat? College course?
Most of our officers will be competing in the RAOC BAOR
Squash Championships to be held here in b Bielefeld: Brigadier
John Skinner in the RAOC Corps Troops A* team and Lieu-
tenant Colonel David Harris, Major Jeremy Batnes and Major
Tony Patrick and Captain Glenn Gillott in the ' B ' team. We
are
strongly represented in badminton circles by our excellent
1
bunch ' of senior ranks.
Our best wishes to Captain Kevin Ward (who has arrived
as our S03 SD/Trg designate) and Captain Melanie Stock
currently of BMH Iserlohn on their marriage, Welcome to
SSM Tony Dudley and family for a comparatively short stay as
he has been selected for commissioning next year. Many con-
gratulations on this, and as well to Staff Sergeant Keith
Honeysett on the award of his Long Service and Good Conduct
Medal.
FVD Recklinghausen
STILL Recklinghausen is a hive of activity, always something
going on. The last of the TA Training Issues combined with
Sight Guard and Padre Loan Issues is keeping everyone on their
toes. Corporal Mick Cumberland can be heard muttering " Come
back all is forgiven " ; referring to Sergeant Pete Gee who was
last seen heading for Krefeld on a EPC(A) course.
Good
luck Pete.
On the sporting scene Sergeants BUI Tait and John Mc-
GonagJe, among others of FVD, are keeping Wulfen well supplied
with talent for the Station Football Team. Staff Sergeant Tony
O'Connor and his Whippets can be seen every weekend head-
ing for pastures new in their quest for Cross Country Com-
petition, This is a change from the training route to the quarry
at Dauten. (I wonder what they have hidden there).
On the Regimental side, the CSM, W 2 Stuart Brierley is
'running ' a training programme which will (it is hoped) prepare
the unit for the ARU Inspection later this month.
Captain Graham and WOl Ken Barnett can be seen writing
Tech SOP's and Job Descriptions. It is not true that Corporal
Mark Mead was changing them all, he was just amending them,
so he says.
Congratulations to Privates Vanderson and Murphy on
passing their B2 upgrading and HGVI tests.
We welcome to the unit Staff Sergeant Warner, Corporal
Dougal ACC, Privates Downey and Morgan and bid farewell
to Lance Corporal McMurdo and Private Pilkington to civvy
street, Sergeant Spencer, Corporal Haworth ACC, Lance
Corporals Barrett, Hammond and McKeown on posting.

OUR featured branches for this month are G3(SD), G3(Avn
RAF) and Gl, 4, 5(Plans):
G3(SD) AND G1(AVN RAF). Since our last epistle there have
been some changes in G3(SD). We have said goodbye to Lance
Corporal Graham White house who has departed this branch
for the mysterious realm of G2 (Int/Sy) arid we wish him well for
the future. We have welcomed Lance Corporal Simon Cockram
from the steamy jungles of Belize and he seems lo be acclimatised
to the less exotic pastures of BAOR- We are awaiting the return
of Corporal Jan Enfield WRAC who went on leave as Corporal
Jan Tate and has at the time of writing just been married to
Corporal Kevin Enfield R. Signals. By the time these notes
are printed they will be settling down to married life. We wish
the happy couple all the very best for the future.
