THROMBOSIS
{Continued from page 106)
Thinks the Colonel, " I dare not tell him that my allowance
is two thousand one hundred pounds and I am, without doubt*
over the top and in the hands and good offices of the Royal Air
Force as to whether I pay the excess at l i p per pound." Then
with a flash he sees a solution: " Hiram, Old Chap, I don't
suppose that you have any spare space in your container
.!"
Later in the evening, having established a mode of transport
for his excess baggage and in reflective and happy mood, the
Colonel remembers that he had attended, earlier that day, a
presentation on 'The Russian Threat' and that the three-star
speaker had opined that 'the British Army was the most pro-
fessional outfit in NATO.* He obviously could not have used an
assessment of the Military Forwarding Organisation in arriving
at this deduction thought the Colonel.
