Transcription So here we are sitting in the middle of a swamp, binoculars
md. awaiting the return of our leader who is out with the
. recovering a CVR(T). The OC FRG and his worried VM's
it all wondering if the RAOC are being taught mechanics as
pari of their trade.
Our WOIC W 2 Allan Smith is in overall charge of the
situation, who, when not carrying out a hundred per cent stock-
take of the biscuits and coffee, is running around tieing down the
canvas.
Lance Corporals Tony Hicks and Pat Doherty can be seen
clearing all the work away, is there any truth in the rumour
lhal Tic, Tac and Toe have also been watching.
Private Eamonn Forde, our naughty boy of the Exercise,
shown great promise as a clerk, but the OC still sends him to
-
without any tea.
Our Storehouse is situated in another swamp some five
hundred metres away. Our first attempt of setting up com-
munications were drastically destroyed by tracked vehicles driving
over the Don ten wires, but our WOIC noticed that the Orderly
Room Staff were constantly asleep so we borrowed their tele-
phone and gave it to the Storehouse.
Corporal Brian Low from our detachment in Munster, is a
Second-in-Command, and, when not down at the Stadt-Olden-
Pime is doing E and MA stock checks (he loves them).
Lance Corporal Jackson says thankyou for putting him on
i .: Corps promotion roll. Lance Corporals Watson and Murdoch
LisJ Private Barstow, our Eager Beavers, enjoy sliding around
in the mud with E and MAs aboard. Privates Gabriel, Fisher
and Mansetl when not on duty, are helping our the MT with
details, and last but not least our man who looks really
Fatigued at the end is Private Jeff Wadsworth,
Our drivers impress everyone with the long hours and
distances they put in, with Kevin Bristow who suffered a bit of
food poisoning, and he's on a diet, and Corporal Dave Ferguson
who's done so many details his wife thinks that she's in the
r
\ercise area.
Lance Corporal Spider Webb, Privates Jock Dalzell, Davey
jones and Scouse Carter play their parts to the ultimate,
especially Scouse, who even tried to do a detail with just a
tyre—nothing stops these lads!
You two have been at it again, postings must be your
favourite subject, you have posted in Sergeant John Duff and
Lance Corporal Paul Cartwright to the PC and A, Privates
Bird, Fulton, Richards and Robertson to our Storehouse, and
Lance Corporal Sean Saunders to the MT.
Thanks again, must go now, until you change things again.

DEPOT
THE main news of the month is that 87 Ordnance Battle Group
now has a new OC Major John Laird. However, true to the
traditions of previous OCs, he has gone missing already. This
time the excuse takes the form of Materiel Umpire for 3rd
Armoured Divisions Exercise Red Claymore.
Major Robin
Johnson leaves to command ASU Ashford.
NAAFI profits up again! The Chief Clerk Sergeant Hall
has just paid an exhorbitant amount (obviously overpaid and
wer here) of money for a new Datsun. His wife and twenty
ix children are said to be very pleased with his new toy. Pity
ne Japs don't make good clutches though. Talking of cars,
the Blue Streak (2ICs Porsche) was badly scratched by a drunken
German on a push bike just one week after he had bought it.
It was said that Anglo-German relations would take years to
recover.
ASU
BIELEFELD
HERR G E R H A R D BUSCHER was recently presented with his
certificate for twenty five years loyal service by CCRAOC. As
a senior ASA he has responsibility for the residences of the
orps Commander and Brigadiers on the Staff of Corps Head-
• uarters. (See page 266.)
During the month the Inspector RAOC carried out his
Technical Inspection and he was followed by Lieutenant General
Sir Nigel Bagnall KCB CVO MC, the Corps Commander, who
visited Oerlinghausen where a new containerised refuse service
had been implimented. He visited the MQES and met members
of the ASU, after completing his inspection of the AAS,

THE flood of leave
passes and applications
for postings were to no
avail
as
the
OC
wouldn't give in for
the dreaded Defence
Auditors were on their
way. Read next months GAZETTE for news of quick postings!
On the promotion front we congratulate W02 Ted Curtis
on his promotion, we now have two ' Q s ' in the PC and A.
We also congratulate Lance Corporal Mac McManus, Privates
Bill Boldison, Paul Bunyan, Paddy Walsh and Martin Noonan
on being selected on the recent promotion board.
Staff Sergeant Ray Brookes passed his Service Funds
Accounts course and now runs the MT coffee swindle, well
done Ray. Congratulations are also in order for Corporals
Phil Hussey and Eric Davis (hope your head gets better) on
passing their RPCl, Lance Corporal Scottie McNairn and
Privates Spic Best, * JR ' Reid and Bill Boldison who are now
Bl tradesmen.
Lance Corporal Mac McManus has just returned from
leave a newly married man we wish him and Liz all happiness
for the future.
The unit has been busy on the production front with Mrs
Muriel Smalley giving birth to a son Christopher, and to Mrs
Mandy McLuskie a daughter Laura, congratulations to you both.
(It's getting difficult to write through the cigar smoke.)
The football team have got the season off to a fine start f
with three wins in a row. Our roving sports reporter ' Bab
alias W02 Geoff Collinge gives each player marks out of ten at
the end of each report, Lieutenant Worrall and Corporal Ray
Rigden REME hope to get their total into double figures after
the next game.
We say farewell to our illustrious 2IC, Major Burr, to the
Staff College, Camberley, and congratulate him on his pro-
motion, and also to Private Wedge Wilson, who managed to*
break his farewell gift within minutes of receiving it,
As part of Major Burrs' farewell gift Private Mick Morris
was sent out to buy a Volkswagen Beatle and came back with
an Estate, only Dinky Toys I might add. Could the Depot
book him in for the next 'Dinky Recognition Course?'
Oh by the way Private ' N o o k y ' Nauyokas
we
mentioned you.
