HANG-UPS !
OUR Viersen correspondent tells me that two at our hang
gliding fanatics have ordered new aircraft and are heading
for battle versus the Germans in the shape of a * Mini-Inter-
national ' at Trier where the British Army twenty meets an
equal number of German pilots in * bombing' (with bags of
flour) a twenty foot target from seven hundred and fifty feet,
precision landing and distance and slalom tasks. The Germans
are already practising hard every weekend but our fliers will
have to take pot luck on the day, since they are scattered far
and wide over the length and breadth of BAOR.
They don't seem worried needless to say! JSPC Bad
Lippspringe gave our fliers a day's parachute presentation and
couldn't have been more helpful. With the benefit of their
expertise and equipment our boys
feel more than optimistic
about their chances against the 4 old enemy.' Happily, enmity
is the last emotion apparent between the respective teams, and
the accent on friendship in the sport is most marked. We
hope to report the result in the next issue.

KONG
ORDNANCE BRANCH, Headquarters British Forces Hong
Kong, recently dined out Mr Chung Tze Tat on his retirement
after thirty seven years* service with the Army. He served
from August 1940 until July 1978 with a short break during
the war. He was with the Ordnance Branch HQBF for most
of these years and his experience and personality will be missed.
Our photograph shows the staff of Ordnance Branch HQBF
taken on the day of his retirement.

WE HAVE
OUR TRADITIONS
TOO!
KONC
We at Gieves and Hawkes may enjoy a sense of history because we
dressed the Iron Duke and Nelson, invented the Shako, the cavalry
head-dress, were first to make the Solar Topee and have been tailor-
ing uniforms for over two-hundred years, but we're certainly not
hidebound!
Each garment—uniform or suit—is cut and tailored by hand to our
own exacting standards. We have, after all, built a tradition of success
by providing clothes which, for generations, have been accepted as
the very best . . .
Today we not only continue to tailor uniforms and suits to the highest
standards, we also offer a fine choice of ready-to-wear clothes. Suits,
blazers, trousers, knitwear, shirts, ties and shoes in classical and
modern styles; including Britains largest range of Chester Barrie suits
and top coats, all await you at Savile Row.

GOOD
DRIVER
DURING the Trent Bridge test match a senior member of the
Chilwell Sergeants Mess was helping in the car park; to organise
things and to try to separate the casual visitors from those
intending to stay all day.
"Staying all day sir?" he said brightly to a chap parking
his car " Y e s " replied the driver. Geoff Boycott did indeed
stay all day—to score one hundred and eight not out.
