Transcription w ^nd D Section extend a warm welcome to Lance Corporal
* Kelly who joined us recently from Ordnance Branch.
:ra! Ray Brown (QLK) has returned from a Unit Pro-
ionists Course in Minden and was quick to point out that
izained a higher position on the course than certain other
OC personnel! Well done, Ray.
Captain Wally Anton, who is Secretary of the RAOC
LOR) football team, eagerly awaits the start of the new
;on and in preparation he has organised Corps Trials at the
of the month at Stores Sub-Depot Dulmen. With some
/ players fighting for a place in the side he is hoping that
8/79 will be a good season for RAOC football here in
OR- We wish him and his team every success.
Finally, we would like to welcome Corporal .John Berry
'josting from Headquarters 4th Armoured Division and we
a him a pleasant stay in Bielefeld.
ORDNANCE BRANCH
[IS month saw the departure of Brigadier Peter Macdonald
UK. and eventual retirement. His final social occasion was
lining out by the Officers and Senior Ranks RAOC of I (BR)
rps, this was an extremely pleasant evening and enjoyed by all.
A very warm welcome is extended to the new DDOS
igadier Bill Whalley and his wife Mary, we hope their stay
II be a pleasant and memorable one.

Congratulations to * Q * Fletcher on the award of his Long
rvice and Good Conduct Medal, it was suitably wetted by
concerned.
Quite a few members of the branch are taking leave.
Lance Corporal Twydale went to Spain and came back with
beautiful sun-tan, Major Stuart Rowsell was asked to conv-
ent, but, guess what, he's gone off on leave again!

Pommie, Blue, Sheila, Fosters—we wonder if he is going some-
where. Perhaps he has realised we are having another colonial
visitor this year and is hoping to impress the visitor with
his knowledge of the language in order to scrounge some kit
like the OCs. Mind you the OCs Australian water proofs were
well tried out as Bavaria had its fair share of rain and, on
one occasion, hail stones as big as golf balls.
This month saw the arrival of a new OC, Major Ron Brown,
and the departure of Major David Harris to Latimer. The Unit
wishes Major Harris and his family bon voyage.
Congratulations to Lance Corporals Dickie Bird, Smurf
Cook and Omar Salem on their promotion and to Lance Corporal
and Mrs Clive Restarick on the birth of their daughter Nadine
Louise.
Other 'New Arrivals' in the Unit include Lieutenant
Mike May, W02 Les Jones, Corporal Alex Brownlie, Private
Bernie Shaw and Craftsman Dave Johnstone,
STORES PLATOON 1 ARMOURED WORKSHOP
THE highlight of the month was the Platoon Bar-B-Que which
was held at the Workshop swimming pool. Despite a few light
showers it was good news, with some people inevitably taking a
dip (not entirely of their own free will).
This month we have to wish Captain Ron Medley farewell,
he leaves us for the Emerald Isle to serve with 8 Infantry
Brigade. We wish the Skipper and Meg all the very best for
the future.
Our new leader is Captain Seumus Kerr, he and Sue arrived
at Fallingbostel fresh from their honeymoon in Corfu. We
hope their stay with us is a happy one. They join us just in
time to get settled in before the Workshop leaves on its Northern
Ireland tour.
Other new arrivals to whom we extend welcome are Lance
Corporal Barry Walker and his wife Oona and Privates Allan
Knight and Tony Mason.
On a final note our Big Wheeler Club has another new
senior member as a swaggering Lance Corporal Ken Quinton
waves his HGV I pass certificate under everyones nose.

WITH one of our Squadrons away in Northern Ireland we had
hoped for a more peaceful time but with our usual shortage
of staff due to leave, detachment etc, we are more busy than
normal,
Private ' Biggies * Higgins is enjoying a spot of leave in
the UK and giving brotherly advice to his sister before she takes
the plunge early next month. Private Tommy Wright is at-
tempting to drive all over Germany in his newly acquired

Sergeant Dave Holmes is in Ballykelly procuring spares
for the Workshop which is attached to one of the holiday
camps in the land of green and should be back with us in early
November.
Congratulations this month go to Corporal Oxley on pro-
motion to that rank and a welcome is extended to Privates
Paul Higgins and Jed Usher.
Late news, BE Test results, and congratulations on passing
to Corporals Jim Nesbitt and Steve Oxley and Private Jed
Usher. What happened to Biggies? Over and out.
THE beginning of the month found us
out on Exercise Summer Sales. Major
John Hammond and Sergeant Al
Cowlishaw, our C Sups duo, took to
wearing their respirators whenever they
went to sleep. This was not because they
