Transcription has been a tragic blow to me and to all those ,who knew
her; her presence and kindness will be sorely missed.
I am sure that everyone who knew Betty will join me in
offering Lieutenant Colonel Connolly and his family our deepest
sympathy in such a tragic loss,

Corporal Ian Martin Roe, RAOC, second son of Mr and Mrs
F. Roe of Stokesley, Yorkshire, and Elaine, eldest daughter of
StaET Sergeant and Mrs N. Drysdale, RAOC, currently of HQ
AFCENT.
TAYLORSON—ADAMSON —The engagement is announced
between Captain Philip John Taylorson RAOC, only son of Mrs
Gladys Taylorson and the late Mr John Ford Taylorson of 30
Grove Lane, Headingley, Leeds, Yorkshire and Sandra, elder
daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Y. Adamson of Venturefair Avenue,
Dumferline.
MARRIAGE
GlMBRfcRE— GREGAN — On 9th September 1978 at St
Oswalds Roman Catholic Church Deepcut, Edward Emile,
younger son of Mr and Mrs Leo Gimbrere, to Sally Jane,
daughter of Colonel John and Esme Gregan of Deepcut.
BIRTHS
DILLOW.—On 20th September 1978, at BMH Iserlohn, to
Margaret and Sergeant Douglas Dillow of 3 Armoured Division
Ordnance Company BFPO 106, a son Carl Peter t a brother for
Michael and Kevin.
G1NN— On 22nd September 1978, at Watford General Hospital,
to Simon and Mary Ginn, a son Peter Simon.
PATON.—On 25th September 1978, at BMH Rinteln, to
Margaret and Graeme Paton a daughter Catherine Ruth.
SOUTHERN.—On 9th September 1978, at Derby City Hospital,
!o Robert and Judith Southern, a daughter Lucy Elizabeth Joan.
DEATHS
ADAMS.—On 26th August 1978, Sergeant I. J. Adams,
P1GGOTT.—Betty, beloved wife of Major Frank Piggott (Retd)
and mother of Janet and Hazel, died 23rd September 1978, after
much suffering courageously borne. Present address: 16 Selby
Road, West Bridgeford, Nottingham NG2 7BL,
WADDELL,— On 25th September 1978, Sergeant A. W. Waddell,
of 352 West Dyke Road, Redcar, Cleveland.
THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE have informed us of the
death of the fallowing Officers, late RAOC: —
CATER.—On 29th July 1978, Major (QM) L. R. Cater.
SHAW.—On 5th July 1978, Major E. D. Shaw MBE.
SIMMONS.—On 30th July 1978, Major (OEO) C. J. Simmons.
TEMME.—On 20th June 1978, Lieutenant (Hon Captain) E. H.
Temme.
WHITE—On 18th July 1978, Major C. R White.
MRS BETTY CONNOLLY
CAPTAIN R. W. SIDER writes: —
I first met Betty Connolly when both she and her husband,
Lieutenant Colonel M. J. H. Connolly came to SSD Viersen
where I was the Regimental Sergeant Major. I had a great
deal to do with her through the welfare of the families and
Betty
worked so very hard in achieving the wonderful spirit which
w
e had in Viersen. On commissioning I became a member of
the same Officers Mess, and her bubbling personality with the
Wives Club and enthusiasm with other social functions never
ceased to amaze me. She was everyone's friend. Her death

Simon and I are so very grateful for the many kind letters
and beautiful flowers received in sympathy over the death of
my Betty, Thank you so much, we are deeply appreciative
and would wish you to know that your kind thoughts and
prayers did help to ease the personal despair on such a day of
sadness.
REMEMBRANCE
SUNDAY 1978
CORPS REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY will be observed by a
parade service on 12th November on the Blackdown Square,
Deepcut, commencing at 10.45 am. Those attending are requested
to be seated by 10.40 am. At the end of the service there will
be a march past at the Corps Memorial.
Military personnel should wear No. 2 dress, No. 1 dress
hat with a poppy behind the left hand chin strap button, medals
and gloves. Officers should wear Sam Browne belt without
sword. Greatcoat or British Warm may be worn.
Medals may be worn by those attending in plain clothes.
Transport will be at Brookwood Station at 9.48 am to meet
travellers on the 9.02 am train from Waterloo. Transport will
leave for Brookwood Station at 2.30 pm for the return journey
to Waterloo.
Luncheon for Officers past and present and their families
will be served in the Headquarters Officers Mess. The charge
inclusive of a glass of wine will be £2.00 per head, children
under twelve years of age £1.00. Owing to the numbers in-
volved, luncheon will only be available to those who apply for
it in advance. A cash-only bar will be operated in the Mess,
and this may be used by all Officers and their families attending
the parade.
A curry lunch for Warrant Officers, Sergeants and Old
Comrades of the Corps and their families will be served in the
Headquarters Sergeants Mess. The charge will be 85p per head.
Again, advance booking is essential.
Applications for luncheon tickets should be sent t o : The
Corps Secretary, RAOC Secretariat, Blackdown Barracks, Deep-
cut, Camberley, Surrey, by not later than 27th October. They
should be accompanied by cheques or postal orders made pay-
able to * RAOC Association.'

THE ROYAL JUBILEE
COCKTAIL PARTY
A CORPS Royal Jubilee Cocktail Party will be held at
the Headquarters RAOC Officers Mess at Deepcut from
6.45 pm to 8.30 pm on Friday, 24th November.
This invitation is extended to serving officers of the
Regular and Reserve Army and their ladies and to
retired officers who are members of the Officers Club
and their ladies. A number of Corps guests are also to
be invited.
The cost of tickets for the Cocktail Party will be
£1.75 per person. Due to staff and space limitations
the numbers will have to be restricted to four hundred
and applications to attend will be accepted on a 'first
come—first served basis.*
Applications to attend the Cocktail Party should
be sent to the Treasurer, RAOC Royal Jubilee Cock-
tail Party, RAOC Secretariat, Deepcut, Camberley,
Surrey, together with a cheque payable to the Head-
quarters RAOC Officers Mess Reserve Fund.
