IT appears to have been some years since we last appeared in
THf. CORPS GAZETTE and no doubt a lot of changes have
occurred since we last wrote. Being commanded by Major P.
J. Bridges, our task in life is to provide ammunition support in
the field and to this end, the Unit is made up of a Headquarters,
two Ammunition Platoons and four Equipment Sections.
Our manpower, which is recruited from the local populace,
covers the whole range of employment, from Headmasters to
unskilled labourers in the near-by Depot and a Bank Under-
Manager.
Training in * Foreign Parts' during recent months, has taken
as to such exotic Stations as Bickerton, Leek, Scarborough and
Swynnerton, culminating in Summer Camp in sailor country at
GosporL Training at Camp concerned the normal Regimental
and Trade Training Syllabus and Private Carroll is to be con-
gratulated on his enthusiasm towards early morning PT.
Sergeant Lambert laid on a Combat Survival Exercise where all
personnel were put through their paces in building ' Bashas *
and an Intense Course of Survival Techniques and interrogation
methods which left a number of people in a daze. Further
visits are planned for Altcar, Capel Curig, Kineton, Nesscliffe
and Swynnerton, preparatory to BAOR in 1979.
Our intrepid PSIs, yes* we do have Regulars in this
Unit, consist of W02 Bill Oliver, Staff Sergeant Terry Brooks,
(1 can't get used to Thursday night AND Week-end Training)
and Sergeant Graham Wetherill (What's the LOA for Hong
Kong like?). Recent departures have been W02 Rapinett and
Staff Sergeant Adams, both of whom have now left the service
after twenty two years and who leave with our best wishes.
Life is not all Training in the Unit, as we also participate in
the West Midlands District Patrol Team Competition, the local
table tennis and football leagues and our small bore shooting
team have put our name on the map, by recently winning the
TAR A Small Bore League Division L

OUR St Leger Buffet Dance on the 12th September at the
Centre Trench was a big success despite, for some un-
known reason, a slight drop in attendance. Brian Findsley's
(ex Corporal RAOC) Mirage Group, now four in number as
Brian has handed over his drums and concentrates on the
vocals and management, kept everybody happy and on their
feet,
The winners of the horses in our branch draw were
taken from the drum by our new Lieutenant Colonel Hodder
(USA) who was reminded by our Secretary at the * mike'
to move faster as he was now serving in the British Army!
Lieutenant Colonel Hodder and his charming wife enjoyed
themselves until the last waltz and are most welcome additions
to our branch functions.
Mrs Gladys Isaacs (nee Sub Conductor Warden WRAC)
having travelled all the way from Chester not only drew a horse
but it romped in first to win Gladys £32 in all 1 Mr (ex-Con-
ductor) Jim Carey, also at the dance with family, drew a horse
which got third place and won him £8.50. The second winner
(not at the dance this time) was also someone well known in
the Corps—ex-Conductor Harold Doming who won £16 which
will help to offset his expenses in taking his wife for a long
premised cruise.
It was nice to see the Secretary Birmingham Branch Harry
Arkinsall and the Standard Bearer (Association Toast Master)
George Bennett, accompanied by his charming daughter, enjoy-
ing the dance so much not forgetting the feats of Messrs Ron
Hmsley, Reg Massey, Busty Bye, etc etc on the floor!
