Transcription Graham Page, After a lengthy scientific dissertation by the
CO on the demerits of carrying too much poundage, Corporal
Page has embarked on a desperate and secret programme to trim
down. This must be the worst best kept secret in the Depot,
Perhaps the scotch-tape sealing his mouth gave him away?
The vogue for jumping out of perfectly serviceable aircraft
continues. Corporal Jim Law and his wife Sue tried their
luck up at Sek Kong in the footsteps of the flying postman
Corporal Geordie Bowen. Corporal Law crocked his ankle on
the second jump, but chauvinism rose through the pain to help
him maintain the rather ruptured status-quo by stopping his
wife on her third jump.
Talking of rugby, the DPO, Captain Terry Ewers, is walk-
ing around with a very Ecce Homo expression on his face;
after arranging the training for the colony rugby team to take
place at the Depot he has not been selected. Ostensibly study-
ing for his promotion exam he had affixed a notice on his
office door. "Studying—please do not disturb." Fiction. He
is practising his rugby moves. Too little—too late!
These notes have been brought to you in secret and on the
move. Planning Branch are conducting so many Establishment
Reviews that no one dare sit still for more than five minutes
Arrivals: We welcome Major Kime, Captain Hicks, Staff
Sergeant Worrall, Sergeant Berresford, Corporals Rimmer and
Robbins.

WELCOME again to Borneo Lines, Sek

Anyway, the hard working RAOC members

of the Headquarters are able to relax slightly
and take part in sport. Sport relays a very
important part in the life of a Gurkha soldier, he is extremely
fit, competitive and skilful and our team keeps losing! Regard-
less of adversity we will persevere and one day
The Corps Jubilee Celebrations in Hong Kong are approach-
ing fast and will start with an RAOC Hong Kong range day.
We have a lot to live up to after Bisley '78 and if Corporals
Colin Watson and Pete Daffern go sick, well, we might give
Composite Ordnance Depot a shock. We will report on other
celebrations later.
Sergeant Dave Beadsworth, Chief Clerk AQ, is learning
Gurkhali at night classes, we wish him success and hope he
has better luck with it than he does with English, At present
he is holidaying in Thailand where no one will understand him.
Once again Dashera is upon us; Dashera is the Gurkha
soldiers religious season, not unlike our Christmas, and parties
are held throughout the month. Newcomers await with anticipa-
tion, old hands with excuses and Alka-Seltzer.
The sports scene continues apace, Captain Ron Gray has
bought new rugby boots, and has been seen using a walking
stick; Sergeant Les Arnold and Corporal Kevin Mills our
soccer stars are thinking of taking up tennis after a recent
match and the Force AT is still on the golf course.
Speaking of the devil, we must sadly bid farewell to Staff
Sergeant Tex Thompson, our Force AT, who leaves us for
Aldershot on promotion. A popular member of the Head-
quarters, we can only say, look out Sunningdale!
Welcome to Staff Sergeant Rich Warner our new AT, and
to Lance Corporal Tony Redfern who has arrived from Belize,
we hope it's only jet-lag!
