Transcription Staying with Vehicle Branch, we congratulate Mrs Mary
Rigby on achieving the unique distinction of thirty years service
with Census Section without a break and welcome WOl Jeff
Wilkinson who has joined the UKLF Fleet Manager's Staff.
MTSP Branch have said farewell to Executive Officer, Mr
Doug Adcock on retirement. An ex-Marine and holder of the
DSM (no pun intended) has served on and off in Chilwell since
1962 and in MTSP since 1975. Besides his devoted service to
the establishment he was also an active supporter of the
Garrison Players. We wonder if it was his acting or his efficiency
as the Readman Theatre barman that drew the big audiences!
Fortunately we have not lost him altogether; he has popped
across the road as a Clerical Officer in Vehicle Branch.
Visitors to the Division have seen much support for the
latest in DSM fashion wear. The long awaited sweat shirts have
arrived with some members filling them better than others! The
motif is that little fellow whose boots were made for (charity)
walking (see last month's GAZETTE). Mr Chris Broughton walker
and Vesperite has left to enter the world of insurance, maybe
he decided there's money in offering cover to would be Dove-
dale walkers!
Colonel David Porter with Dr Z a k i Hussain of University Hospital
Nottingham and M r Bob Allen of the Area Health Authority with
one of the equipments.
Mike Wilson RPC passing through on his way to Long Marston.
We offer him our congratulations and hope he will retain his
connections with the RAOC.
Directorate of Land Service Ammunition
THE success, or otherwise, of Unit Social functions is sometimes
hard to assess. Here at DLSA we have a fool ' proof ' method.
After our Christmas party, carol service, children party and wives
club party a certain extra spring in the floor of the Vauxhall
Centre required investigation by PSA. It seems our activities
with a little help from water seepage caused the floor of the
Vauxhall Centre to collapse! We are now persuading PSA that
we do need a floor for the Vauxhall Centre,
The Director of Land Service Ammunition with 3 2 1
in Northern Ireland.
Following the ' spirit of giving' theme, Mr Colin Wright
(Chairman), Mr David Wood (Treasurer) and Mrs Nina Fair-
field (Organiser in Chief) and their committee drawn from the
Division. DSCS Detachment and the COD Chilwell Typing
Pool collected £1,000 to purchase eleven nerve stimulators for
pain relief for use in Nottinghamshire Area Health Authority
Clinics. The photograph shows Colonel David Porter with
Dr Zaki Hussain (centre) of Queens Medical Centre, University
Hospital Nottingham and Mr Bob Allen of the Authority with
one of the equipments.
Finally we congratulate Sergeant Don Maclean on the recent
award of Chilwell hockey colours. Well done!
EOD Unit
Our photograph shows the Director, Brigadier Smith visit-
ing 321 EOD Unit in Northern Ireland recently. However
tempting, there is to be no ' guess the caption' competition.
Congratulations are due to Staff Sergeants Davies and
Christie and Sergeant French on their Long Service and Good
Conduct Medals, presented by Brigadier Smith (photograph in
the February GAZETTE). WOl Marshall is back from Northern
Ireland, we are glad to see him and we also welcome Staff
Sergeant Brown who yet again is bringing Lance publications to
heel before starting his Northern Ireland tour.
Training Centre
HEADQUARTERS
THE last two months has seen much change in the Head-
quarters. The Commander, Brigadier Mike Short has been
throwing his putty around, and wielding his wrench on the
' bricks and mortar' course at Aldershot before going on
terminal leave.
The Superintending Clerk, W02 Bob Hagen from Employ-
ment Training School, is filling the gap before the arrival of
WOl Le Vaillant from MOD. Our long serving Chief Clerk
G Branch, Sergeant Richard Lawrence, has left us after three
and a half years dealing with anything from firemen's strikes to
nuclear strikes on the Surrey stockbroker belt. He will be
missed and was the longest serving military member of the
Headquarters. He is replaced by Sergeant Kevin Mills who
has given up the crowds of Hong Kong to come to Deepcut.
We also said goodbye to our Scottish representative, Staff
Sergeant Andy Thomson, who was the AQ Chief Clerk; he
ended his service by remaining in the area, his contribution to
Training Centre cricket and squash was an asset. Good luck
to him in civilian life. He has been replaced by Sergeant
David French all the way from Employment Training School.
Directorate of Supply Computer Services
DESPITE the weather, sport is still played by members of
DSCS. Captain Lynda Kerley achieved a creditable twelfth
position in the WRAC South East District Cross Country at
Pirbright, whilst WOl Bob Harrison applied his ' o n line'
experience to the golf course to carry off the Lawrence Trophy
(must be difficult playing golf in the snow!). Meanwhile Cap-
lain Geoff Harcourt has been selected to captain the Corps
hockey team for the third year running. Nevertheless, this ' run '
is likely to be broken next season as Geoff is off to Hong Kong
in August.
Talking of Hong Kong—Major Hugh Mundy is recovering
from the shock of learning that his next posting (somewhat
earlier than planned!) is to Hong Kong in April. Major Mike
Harris is also planning on getting his knees brown as he has
just heard of his posting to Brunei in May. Is it a Far East
takeover I ask myself?
We welcome WOl Donoghue, our new Superintending
Clerk, and W02 Allen to DSCS. A final farewell was said to
WOl Mike Wilson who reappeared the next week as Lieutenant
