Transcription about to say farewell to Lance Corporal Benny Bennett who is
off to 2 ADOC in the next few days.
In their places we welcome Second Lieutenant Ben Black-
wood, W 2 Chris Kelly, Corporal Dave Eastwood, and Lance
Corporal Peter Hegginbotham.

OUR Training Directive for 1981 has placed NBC Train-
ing to the fore. Classroom training and the fitting and testing
of NBC equipment has taken place and hereafter we shall be
working in full NBC kit for a full morning every other week.
Anybody intending to visit or call us on these days, must be
prepared for anything. At least one person is happy with his
NBC suit, Lance Corporal Conner has found that he is now
more attractive to the opposite sex especially when he wears his
respirator.
Private Dave Hood leaves us shortly for his annual winter
exercise with the AMF(L) in Norway and arrives back just in
time to prepare for Exercise Lion Sun in Cyprus, some people
get all the luck.
Captain Mike Lewington rejoins us next week from his
Long Ordnance Officers Course. He will find on his return
that half the staff of the.Headquarters will have changed in his
absence, so he will feel quite a stranger.
We say farewell and good luck to Craftsman Richard Dallow
who leaves us on posting to BAOR, and bid welcome to Crafts-
man Quinton Marsden-Hill.
Cold award at the Palace.
Moving on to another aspect of adventurous training, a
large portion of the Company is at present sampling the delights
of ski-ing in the Cairngorms. No doubt they will return to
Aldershot full of yarns which may feature in future GAZETTES.
However, those of us remaining here have very sceptical views
concerning the apres-ski facilities of Inverness Training Camp!
Congratulations must go this month to Private Paddy
Peacock, who was recently presented with the Duke of Edin-
burgh's Gold Award at Buckingham Palace. To attain the
Award, his activities ranged from Community Service and
Physical Fitness to Expedition Work in the Mourne Mountains
and a hobby or interest, which in this case was shooting. Per-
haps drawn by the uniform, HRH Prince Philip picked Private
Peacock out from the hundreds attending as one of the few he
had time to say a few words to, thereby making the occasion all
the more memorable.
Farewell to WOl Elsey to Headquarters South East District,
Sergeant Lenny Ross and family to civvy street.
Hello to Corporal Chamock from Germany, Privates
Bartzsh, Miller, Lane and Edwards from Deepcut, Private Hunter
and family from Chilwell, Sergeant Bolton and family from
Germany and Private Westaway.
Congratulations to ' Muscle Man ' Lance Corporal Storey
and Private Murray on passing the PTI Course, Corporal Simon
Lee on the birth of a daughter, Andrienna, Private Steve Pickard
on the birth of a daughter Fay, and Privates Champney and
Taylor on getting their B2 from ' Q ' Chapman.

STORES PLATOON 8 FIELD WORKSHOP
HAVING just finished reading last months GAZETTE I decided
it was time that 8 Field Workshop Stores Platoon made its
debut. For those who don't know, we are part of 7 Field
Force.
Arithmetic is a problem the REME have never
solved.
The most outstanding event in recent months was when
Lance Corporal Chris Lowthian appeared in the local paper.
His quick thinking and first aid skills saved the life of his next
door neighbours four a half month old baby, who had stopped
breathing. Well done Chris.
Like the rest of the Field Force this platoon was on Crusader.
Two memorable events from this exercise were the frequent
runs around a field by Lance Corporal Benny Bennett. The
other was the sight of Staff Sergeant Joe Redman ' buried under'
two hundred major assemblies.
Our congratulations to Private and Mrs Scouse Ives on the
recent birth of their daughter Kelly Louise. He denies that he
named her after his favourite Warrant Office W 2 Chris Kelly.
Over the last few months we've said farewell to Lieutenant
Tony Heron, W 2 Bob Watson, who is now enjoying civvy
life, and Corporal, now Sergeant Kevin Welsh. We are also

AN intensive ' get fit' operation is in hand. Notes appear on
desks from our zealous TCO, Major Seabrook, calling us out
on fitness runs and squash at lunch time, and it's having its effect.
Nurse has run out of liniment which helps to ease our aching
muscles and the staff officers are actually seen running to answer
telephones—it's all getting a bit too much.
Our attached RAPC Officer, Major Terry McDowell, has
just returned after a JSMTC Ski course and has had to be
stopped from practicing his mogul techniques on the staircase
in the Headquarters because it was not understood by Con-
ductor Webster and other non ski fanatics, how strange.
On a more sober note we congratulate Major Mike Pether
on his achieving his majority and wish Major Henry Ford every
success on his work study course at Shrivenham.

IT was pleasant to see Ex-Conductor Brian Deeney recently;
he now works for local government in South Wales. With Mrs
Deeney they had an hour with us on the occasion of the Head-
quarters party.
Phil Plume is organising our Depot Darts Team to oppose
our opposite numbers in Derby. This time we issued the
challenge—which our opponents accepted. We wonder if Steve
Smith will be able to reproduce his remarkable feat of a previous
tournament; that of hitting a lamp, thus plunging the room into
darkness, and puncturing a radiator—all with one dart.
Congratulations to Mike Laight on promotion to EO—Mike
has now departed on an Accountant's Course but we hope to see
him again before he is finally posted.

Welcome to Mrs Marian Rowe who has joined us in the
DMA Office.
Finally a get well message to Ted Jones, our Switchboard
Operator.
