your crossword as the advance party of dogs give him away every
time.
Staff Sergeant Pete Marsh has been out running again, once
in the Interformation Cross Country Event with the French
Forces in Germany. His team came in first for which Pete
receives his Rhine Area Colours. The BAOR colours also go
to him for arriving nineteenth out of some one hundred and
twenty runners in the Interservice Cross Country Race. Watch
this space for future details of his wins and achievements.
Congratulations go out to Corporal Alison Mossink WRAC
on (somehow) passing her driving test. The rest of us cannot
decide if it is better to leave early or wait until she has driven
away.
New faces around the office are Major John Bennett as
OIC Stores and Equipments, W02 Dick Adams as Chief Clerk
Admin and Lance Corporal Sonia Gordon, Private Debbie
Amphlett and Private Elaine Spruce in the encoders office.
More about these later after they have found their feet

left to grow his rather regal beard. It was also rumoured that
he suffered depression on losing his service cycle but he has
recovered well following the presentation of a miniature penny
farthing.
ORDNANCE DEPOT VIERSEN
THE main event this month has been the St Davids Day
Dinner organized by the CO Lieutenant Colonel Rees which
proved to be an even greater success than last years. It could
not be held on the actual day because of Karneval celebrations
but, as could be clearly seen in the eyes of the participants the
following day, a great time was had by all—they claimed, that
this was because of the strong leeks!
In the sporting field the football team is still waiting to play
the quarter final of the DOS (BAOR) Cup after the third post-
ponement. They will all be too old to play soon. Rugby is
well under way again but the OC Rugby, Harry Jones, playing
his first game in six years could not have been unluckier. Having
stopped his playing career because of a broken leg he turned
out for a friendly game, played a ' blinder' and rebroke the
same leg with only three minutes remaining. Our wishes go to
him for a speedy recovery. On the good side Corporal Winney
Allen played for the victorious Corps Rugby Team against the
RE.| Small Bore, Shooting continues to thrive under the
guidance of Major Graham MacDonald and currently holds
fourth place in the BAOR Team Championships.
The Joint Service Rapier Cell is in the process of packing up
their office to move to Rheindahlen. Fond farewells go with
them. The smiling faces of the two ' Blue Jobs' WO Ray
Smith RAF and Flight Sergeant Len Woodward RAF and our
own Staff Sergeants Jim Munday and Harry Smith will be missed
by all. Sergeant John Kreft, Corporal Scouse Molloy, WOl
Alan Kennedy, W02 Trev Kersley and Sergeant Kim Birdsall
have also left for greener pastures. Corporal Sharon Lovell
WRAC (nee Parker) has now been discharged and has become a
housewife trying to keep Corporal Jon Lovell in the manner to
which he is accustomed.
We also welcome into the unit Corporal John Grice from
Belize and last but not least Sergeant Ray Wakley into the
Orderly Room although we aren't too sure where he came from,
but is reputed to be ex-1 RTR—he's certainly thick skinned.
INVENTORY CONTROL POINT
WE start this months article with our hearty congratulations to
Captain Hugh Minchinton, Mr David Dudfield and Sergeant
Bob Fenwick on their great success in the BFBS Germany
Brains of BFG contest. The team had a landslide victory in
their first match against a RAF Team calling themselves the
" Pee Oners " Score was forty one against twenty nine. This
victory takes them onto the next match, against the Management
Services team (also part of the Viersen complex).
Lieutenant Colonel Eric Gill has now taken the chair as
Controller ICP with the help and assistance of Cindy, Angu,
Mags and Jassy (his cavalier King Charles Spaniels). All know
when he arrives late for work in the mornings by the shuffle of
89 SUPPLY DEPOT
MAJOR CHARLES McGUIGAN has left 89 Supply Depot to
take over as OC 80 Supply Depot in Hannover. His official
farewell took the form of a games evening, ably organised by
Sergeant Geordie Holliday and committee. Congratulations to
Mrs Jill Watson for the splendid buffet she prepared. After a
tightly fought contest involving bar skittles, darts, dominoes,
carpet bowls and cards Corporal and Corporal (John and Liz)
Longfield emerged the victors. Well done to them (although it
was only to be expected from an all round sportsman and a
WRAC PTI). The evening culminated in the presentation of a
slow cooker to Major Charles and Mrs Margaret McGuigan.
The new training officer has introduced swimming into the
fitness programme. The wisdom of this was doubted (by her)
when a certain Sergeant and Corporal decided to improve their
underwater swimming/ducking techniques.
The change in the weather from snow to heavy rain has
meant that we could catch up on postponed sports fixtures. We
have thirteen star players in nine different teams. A special
mention must go to Sergeant Geordie Holliday and Corporal
John Longfield who represent RAOC (BAOR) at football.
Congratulations to Mr Dave Timms on being picked to
take part in a postal shoot for the army. He says that it's his
new gun that makes all the difference.
STOP PRESS: Our Chief Clerk Sergeant Mike Blair is the only
person in the depot who can replace a bulb in his car head-
lights back to front—and need to take the radiator grille off in
order to do so!

MOB STORES SUB-DEPOT. Once again we welcomed all the
VIPs to have a look around Mob; Brigadier WhaUey, and the
VQMG, Major General Thorne, to mention but two. They
managed to catch us during a hectic period, but we were able
to ease off a little whilst they were here. With the aftermath of
Crusader still fully apparent in Mob we have transferred from
Stores Sub-Depot for an undisclosed fee the mainstays of
SSD, Privates Bell, Bomford and Winstanley (how will SSD
function now?).
Our two men detached to Warendorf, Lance Corporal Tony
Blyth and Private Brain have been seen wandering around the
stacks muttering, " Fabric tanks, fabric tanks."
It seems that spring is in the air as our single OC, Captain
Sustins, is finding out, he is changing our title to ' Marriage Sub-
Depot.' The following have finally found out that ' pads' have
a cushy number in the service: Lance Corporals Keith Howes
and John Coulter and Private Wurzel Brain.
We welcome to the team Sergeant Duncan Wilson-Paisley,
who was with the Gordon Highlanders until he saw the light,
and Privates Lewis and Bridges. We say farewell to Sergeant
Jack Ferris from C and A, who will be really missed, thanks
for everything that you have done for Mob and we all remember
your favourite Number 177. Congratulations to Sergeant Fred
Lawrence on the substantial reward for his suggestion of a
better way to pack PUEs.
LOANS AND REPAIR SUB-DEPOT. Here we are again—rent-
a-tent section: Corporal Mckinnon is posted as a Gurkha, yes
he is, no he isn't, yes he is, no he isn't! Sergeant Nobby Clark
is now posted as Staff Clark as a Tech Clerk to CV Headquarters.
