Transcription Headquarters Scotland
THIS month has been taken up with
Exercises Puff Adder and Wintex/Cimex
and all concerned inevitably taking an
active part. This includes our Territorial
Army Unit in Glasgow with Major Donald
MacDougall and Lieutenant Ron Rae
doing a stint in the bunker; likewise Cap-
tain Jim Griffiths from Accommodation
Services Unit Stirling.
Not content with this the Battle Fit-
ness Tests coincided with the Exercises.
One is left wondering if this is why the
first Exercise was named ' Puff Adder,'
judging from certain of our branch under test!
In the Combat Supplies Office Mr Duncan Stewart has left
and has been replaced by Mrs Eileen Deas, otherwise the staff
remain the same. Across the road in the Camp Commandant's
Empire, Staff Sergeant Kelly has arrived from 89 Supply Depot
to serve out his last six months. In AQ Branch we welcome
Staff Sergeant Jamieson who is to replace W02 Herron who is
posted to Headquarters North West District.
North East District
WE bade a sad farewell to WOl Ron
Moore one time our ROWO, on his
retirement Ron has spent his last six
months on his old ' happy hunting
grounds' in North East and North West
Districts; we are pleased to report that he
is now managing a meat packaging plant
for a well known frozen food combine.
In the absence of CRAOC, Major
Derrick Eve presented him with an en-
graved tankard to remind him of a long and successful career and
Mrs Jane Eve presented Mrs Pat Moore with a bouquet.

AAC AVN (SUP).
Our new title is intended as a twelve
month trial in BAOR using NATO
nomenclature. So for eighty one at least we
in BAOR will have different (how un-
usual) titles to other theatres.
We offer Corporal Bowser and
Yvonne our heartiest congratulations on
the arrival of their son, Marton Lawrence,
well done to you both.
Our S02 Avn (Sup), Major de
Foubert is already showing signs of post-
ing happiness, he is off to 70 Supply Depot in August, information
his bank manager will, we are sure, appreciate!
2 AIRCRAFT SUPPORT UNIT. The news from the sharp
end this month—Start with the good news—Congratulations to
Corporals Cass and Parish on new additions to their families—
Both boys, (possible RAOC recruits?).
We have now another batch of trained VDU Ops, all our
new boys have now returned from that RAF place in UK (The
one that has girls!) Well done on learning something.
In the Support Office Sergeant Danagher entered the high
jump Olympics when a German workman decided to take the
short way out of the roof via the ceiling! Right on top of
Sergeant Danagher's desk.
We recently hosted a Four Major Unit Boxing Com-
petition—For Novices! Our own rep Private Murfet won his
bout much to the delight of the hard working originator, Cap-
tain Curtis.
We have rolled the dice and the results are: Sergeant
Gordon to Staff Sergeant, Corporal Brennan to Sergeant, Lance
Corporal Selwood to Corporal and Private Lee to Lance
Corporal. Congratulations from us all.
Farewell to Sergeant Parnell and Lance Corporal Pope and
sincere thanks to you both for your hard work over the past
years.
ASU CATTER1CK.
Our congratulations to Mr Joseph Wilks,
Senior Storekeeper at AES Ripon, on being awarded the
Imperial Service Medal which was presented by the CRAOC.
A pleasant task for our lucky boss made doubly so by the
celebratory drinks in the Sergeants Mess afterwards.
(Closure of ASU Barlow see page 392)
1 REGIMENT AAC. Personalities are changing in the Regi-
ment as we say goodbye to our Commanding Officer Lieutenant
Colonel Canterbury and say hello to Lieutenant Colonel St J.
Lytle.
Sergeant Outhwaite returns from RAF Hereford having
gained a one hundred per cent pass on the Supply Course,
repeating Sergeant Trotman's results. Sergeant Trotman starts
the second year of his Open University Course, having passed
the finals of his year in 1980.

1 AIRCRAFT SUPPORT UNIT. The main event of the month
has been the highly successful skittles evening the unit held
when a large number of soldiers and their wives were able to
test their skill at the alley. We were pleased to welcome
several of our civilians to the evening but regret to say that one
of them emerged triumphant at the end of the evening. Honours
for the evening must go to Corporal Kendrick who managed
to knock down one skittle without the ball touching the floor
and to Staff Sergeant Learmonth under whose onslaught the
skittles remained virtually unscathed throughout.
We said farewell this month to Mrs Marge Bames our
only Clerical Officer whose post was one of the casualties of
our recent I of E inspection. Luckily we were at least able
to keep her in the Ord (Air) family as she now works for the
SOI Ord (Air) at Headquarters DAAC.
We welcome W02 Squire and Private Fulton.
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S are in order for
W02 Sharrock, our ROWO, who won the
South West District Individual Plate for
squash, and also to Staff Sergeant Careless
on his award of the Long Service and Good
Conduct Medal.
If these notes appear on time, those of
you in the local area may like to come and
see our S03 (S Man) (Captain Lawrence -
Wood) starring as the male lead in an Agatha
Christie-type thriller at Newcombe Hall, Lark-
hill on 7th, 8th and 9th May. He was selected after much
thought by the Producer (our Chief Clerk—W02 Jim Bond)—
just before Confidential Report time, it so happens, but the Chief
Clerk assures us that it was pure coincidence. He recognises
outstanding talent when he sees it—and hopes that CRAOC
does, too.
We welcome Mrs Jenny Bryan to help out in Org/Admin.
Colonel Griffin should get his tea on time from now on!
SUPPLY DEPOT. Congratulations to W 2 Ted Shreeve whose
expertise as a boxing official has received full recognition on his
selection to officiate at the Annual Navy versus RAF Boxing
Competition, the Combined Services Championships and Com-
bined Services against Western Counties.
The Depot's permanent ' Course M a n ' Lance Corporal
Ray Mabbott was unfortunately returned to unit from the RPC2
Course with a leg injury. Not to be outdone, he returned to
Blackdown two weeks later to achieve a creditable pass on the
Fire NCOs' Course.
Private Dave Ncedham our own version of 'Action Man '
attended part of the Battle Fitness Course at the UKLF School
of Physical Training as part of his build up for an imminent
Commando Course.

ORDNANCE
COMPANY
THIS month has been an exceptionally busy
one for the Company, with so many
activities going on simultaneously that at
times it has been difficult to track down
exactly where everybody is at any one
time. Early in the month we lost ten soldiers
to the UKLF Wintex Bunker Guard, and
our canoeing team has continued training
hard every day for the Devizes/Westminster
canoe race. In addition, this month saw
the formation of a Company line-laying team who have been
putting in some strenuous physical exercise in preparation
for the 6 Field Force line-laying competition. The team have
been following a strict regime of daily training, which has
