Transcription Stop Press\ Congratulations to Mrs Osborne, Mrs Levett
and Mrs Bateson on their recent births.
44 RP COMPANY.
A highlight was the visit of Major General
Arthur, seen in the picture talking to Major John Williams and
Staff Sergeant Terry Foster. The bags under Staff Fosters eyes
are a permanent feature, not the result of a heavy night in the
mess!

11 Armoured Brigade
HEADQUARTERS
IT took us a long time to get recognised as Headquarters Min-
den Garrison/Task Force Golf. With a bit of luck we might
get Headquarters 11 Armoured Brigade mentioned sooner.
Since our last appearance we have not changed any staff
although posting orders have been received for some. Corporal
John Clorley is taking up ski-ing in November having been
warned off for Norway. Private Rick Hoare volunteered for,
and got Belize. Sergeant Alan Guest, our Gunner, will have
moved to Hong Kong by the time this gets published. After
all these choice postings the rest of us are resigned to the fact
that the MOD or the depot is where we will be bound.
We welcome to the Corps Corporal Tony Grinsdale. He
was attached to us, or left behind by, 1 DWR. Congratulations
on seeing the light and thanks for giving my belt back. We
also said goodbye to him when he was posted to 39 Brigade.
The work cycle is the same as last year although when
someone calls " G2 or G 3 " we are never sure who should
answer.
The happening of the year has already happened: Private
Mick Young went on exercise and survived it but it cost him
four days work.

Major
Ccncral Arthur visits the
Company.
The MTO, Captain Nigel Lloyd disappeared again, this
time to get married; warmest congratulations to Nigel and the
blushing bride Teresa, who just happens to be the daughter of
the new QM. What is this, a takeover by the Miller family!
On the sporting scene the 44 Rugby machine grinds on. In
the quarter final of CCRAOC cup we beat our sister company
49 Company seventy six to nil! The 2IC was heard asking after-
wards in the bar " where did ge go wrong tactically." 1 ADOC,
opponents in the next round are rumoured to be making the
white flags already!
Our trained Subaltern Lieutenant Dave Lillystone and Staff
Sergeant Brian Reid both returned from Snow Queen looking
disgustingly healthy. Rumour has it we shall see our Subaltern
at work this year.
On a sad note we say farewell to Captain Mark Wickham
and our RQMS Pete Wightman and wish them both all the best
of luck in the future. We welcome in their place Captain
Martin Medcalf and RQMS Colin Mears and we wish them
both a long and enjoyable stay in the Company. Welcome also
to Lance Corporals Geddes and Jones.

WORKSHOP
AFTER such a long absence from these pages we would like to
welcome to our fold Lance Corporal Jeff Phillipson, affection-
ately known as ' Tweeky,' who as soon as he saw our PC and A,
promptly volunteered for a Basic Driving Course, a Basic German
Course, an RPC Course and would you believe it, Leave! He
has now come to appreciate our limited technical accommodation.
Along with Lance Corporal Jeff Phillipson, Corporal Smudge
Smith has also been accepted for a German course and Private
Chris Allen has made enquiries about future vacancies. The
local ' Bratty' stalls will never be the same.
Corporal Kev Rothwell after passing a Radio Operators
Course has definitely developed a style of his own when answer-
ing the telephone. Maybe one day he will let us into the
secret of the jargon he uses.
Congratulations are offered to Sergeant Bill Hall on obtain-
ing his EPC Advance and also to Privates Tom Harrison, John
Edwards and Chris Allen on passing their B2 upgrading.
Private Chris Allen has also been seen roaring around
camp in a four tonner training for HGV3. We keep reminding
him it is a four tonner he is driving and not a Mazda!
On the sporting side, a noteworthy to mention is that Private
Tom Harrison has been selected for the RAOC (BAOR) football
squad. Well done Tom!
Before we close we must bid a fond farewell to Sergeant
Bill Hall and his wife Betty. Bill will be missed by all RAOC
and REME alike, if not only for his unorthodox but effective
Storemanship! Bon voyage.
43 RP COMPANY.
This month has seen the Carnival come
to Nieheim. The Company was asked to enter a float in the
Roscnmontag celebrations and in typical fashion produced The
Black Pig, a mobile pirate galleon which received favourable
mention in the local press. Special credit for this work of art
must go to the following: Lance Corporal Scouse Thornett,
Staff Sergeant Leo Green and Sergeant Graham Drew.
Our CSM, W02 Dave Avery, attended an exercise Snow
Queen course to improve his ski-ing, but rumour has it that he
was really on a B3 Domino course!
The Lance GM Platoon completed its annual move to the
Hebrides and on departure of the LCL, Sergeant Drew informed
the Captain that he was going the wrong way. We hope he
comes out of irons soon.
The retirement of Herr Ernst Maske, our chief watchman
and Prussian guard, saw the return of two former OCs, Lieu-
tenant Colonel Hellis and Major Chapman, to commemorate
this occasion. Herr Maske was presented with a silver salver
engraved with the names of the five OCs whom he has served
so well. Future Company officers will have to buy their own
eggs.
We say farewell to the following: Sergeant Bob Charlton
and Corporal Alex Travell, both of whom have been sent to
the Outer Hebrides and Private Gaz Barks to Bicester and his
forthcoming marriage.
New arrivals to the Hill are: Corporals Jones and Pound
(REME and ACC respectively), Lance Corporal Scanlon to the
Battalion MT, and Privates Downey, Hunter, Livesley, Milligan
(ACC), Renfrey and Thomas.
