Transcription Outside the C o m m e r i Bank in Bielefeld, Nathan, flanked by his
parents, Derek and Pamela Green, displays ' Coldi,' the toy
hamster presented to him by Herr Weidner.
He was presented with a gold key ring and ' Goldi,' a
toy hamster, by Herr Weidner, a senior representative of the
huge bank, Enthusing over Nathan's design Herr Weidner
said: "The judges looked for good colour but, more important,
they had to be satisfied that entrants received no help from
parents or teachers.
Nathan's design is obviously his own
work."
A shy Nathan, who was told of his success just before his
bedtime was overjoyed with the result but did not believe his
parents when they first broke the news. " He thought we were
joking," said Derek. Nathan did, however, say he would be
" quite pleased " if he won the National Competition!
THE
TRAINING
CENTRE
A
pint
with
RSM
Hosband.
The raffle was also very well organised by TSAB and also
worthy of note were the splendid achievements of the various
organisers of stalls. The overall profit from the Bazaar amounted
to £1,300 which will be distributed to Army and local charities
by the Commander Training Centre, Brigadier Short.
BAZAAR
ONCE AGAIN the annual Training Centre Bazaar was held at
Deepcut in order to raise money for charity. The event was
organised under the sponsorship of the Apprentices College
with Major Ted Champion as Chairman. All Units within the
Training Centre contributed and ' moneybags,' in the form of
Captain Douglas could be seen suffering from fatigue towards
the end of the day.
QUEUE
JUMPING
WE are pleased to report that Major John Evans of 4th
Armoured Division has given up his pastime of falling off
bicycles (GAZETTE September 79). Instead, he has embarked up-
on the new, more dangerous, hobby of Passat pulverizing. The
aim is to find a queue of autobahn traffic which you can follow
at a speed somewhat greater than you judge the queue to be
moving. The target to beat at present is DM3,700 which was
needed to repair Major Evans Passat in his first attempt at
the sport.
Fortunately, our intrepid stuntman emerged unhurt.
IRAN—DID YOU
Robin Ncdwell talks to Apprentice Lance Corporal Brown at the
Training Centre Bazaar.
Our photograph shows Robin Nedwell of TV Doctor fame,
who opened the bazaar, talking to Apprentice Lance Corporal
Brown—you have probably also noticed him in the cover
photograph taken in Cyprus, they get around a bit these
Apprentices. Robin found time to discuss the problems of run-
ning a bar under field conditions with RSM Hosband—who
organised it.
