BIRTHS
DE FOUBERT.—On 14th December 1979, at BMH Rinteln, to
Caroline (nee Clark) and Nigel, a daughter, Katy Emily Caroline,
a sister for Nicholas and Timothy.
WOOD.—On 29th November 1979, at BMH Munster to Barbara
and Lance Corporal Geoffrey Wood, a daughter Tracy Lynn.
A sister for Andrew and Malcolm.
ENGAGEMENTS
BLAKE—WIDGERY.—The engagement is announced between
Peter, son of Lieutenant Colonel and Mrs E. P. T. Blake, of
Celle, West Germany, and Rosalind, daughter of Mr and Mrs
H. S. Widgery of Hereford.

DEATHS
BARTXEY.—On 5th January 1980, suddenly, Lance Corporal
M. J. Bartley.
BRICKLES — On 15th December 1979, at Nottingham, ex-
Sergeant A. Brickies. The funeral at Bramcote Crematorium
was attended by colleagues from his last Unit Chilwell, from
which he retired in July 1979.
BULTITUDE.—On the 7th January 1980, Lieutenant Colonel
Arthur Stanley Bultitude aged ninety two. Lieutenant Colonel
Bultitude transferred to the Corps from the East York-
shire Regiment in the twenties retiring in 1933 as a Major. He
rejoined the Corps on the outbreak of the Second World War
when, as a pre-war IOO, he was employed on ammunition
duties.
JENNINGS—On 27th December 1979, Major (OEO) Edward
Thomas Jennings, suddenly at home in Minden.
TICKNER — On 30th November 1979, peacefully at Cobden,
Hindon, Salisbury, Wilts, Major (OEO) C. C. Tickner, ex-FE,
POW.
WESTON.—On 7th January 1980, Lance Corporal R. J. Weston
of 10 Ordnance Support Battalion, as the result of an accident.

FORCE
EXPLOSIVE
OFFICER
THE vacancy preferably calls for a retired serviceman, probably
of a Warrant Officer rank with recent and comprehensive
experience of Explosives Ordnance Disposal.
The responsibilities of this post are for supervision of
commercial explosives within the Sultante, in relation to im-
port, handling, storage and usage and for inspection and advice
upon Police and domestic ammunition stock including magazine
inspections. It is expected that training in EOD practice will
be given also to local Officers.
A two-year contract is offered with tax free pay at the
rate of R04296/- per annum which at the current exchange
rate equals £Stg. 5367/-. Batman allowance and Qualification
Pay is also granted to the total of R067/- {fStg. 88/-) per
month ie £Stg. 1,056/- per annum.
In addition, there is a Provident Fund of which five per
cent of the basic salary is contributed and to which a further
twenty per cent is added by the Royal Oman Police and payable
on completion of contract, tax free.
Free fully furnished accommodation is provided with free
transport and medical facilities.
Leave with paid passages is granted at the rate of sixty
days per annum, which in the event of the Officer being un-
accompanied may be taken as two thirty days leave per year.
It will be of interest to note that the retiring Force Ex-
plosives Officer is ex-Conductor C. P. Mckernan who leaves in
mid-January, and the vacancy is in this Officer's replacement.

A VACANCY exists for a retired Officer, Grade II, at CAD
Longtown in the post of OIC Administration. The successful
applicant will be required to reside locally. An MOQ can be
made available pending house purchase. The area has much
