Transcription With all the gladiators now emerging for the winter sports
season its fortuitous that we have purchased a Sauna to soothe
away the aches and pains. The photograph of Lieutenant
Colonel Mike Watts performing the opening ceremony has been
censored as it is rumoured that Mary Whitehouse is on THE
GAZETTE distribution list.
In order to combat the rapid changes of location in the
Supply Sub-Depot as a result of the new regime five motor
bikes have recently appeared. Watch out chaps Mavis is
threatening to give them troop trials! We can't keep WOl
(we've got it right this time) John Kenwright out of the news
and we are delighted to report that he has been selected for
commissioning next year.

IT is believed that this contribution might
be the first newsletter from Ashford
Station and hopefully a new precedent

ployed on a wide variety of tasks ranging

from Ammunition to Recruiting.

Heading the group (RHIP) is Cap-
tain David Moore, the recently arrived OC of the Ordnance
Support Unit in Rowcrof t Barracks. ' Over the wire' in
Templer Barracks is WOl Clive Walch, the Chief Clerk, who,
ably assisted by Sergeant George Leadbitter continues to run the
NO. 3 SECTION.
Nothing has altered, except the faces.
3 Section has been relieved of ' Bald Eagle' alias Captain Phil
Sharman who has left for BAOR.
Lurgan is undergoing its ritual redecoration—wall to wall
carpeting and a forty foot scalextric track to lighten the dull
moments.
Sergeant Anderson and the Omagh Detachment carry
happily on beating devices to death in the belief that Wheel-
barrows are expendable! ' Topcats ' view of this is shown by
the photograph and is indicated by the arched back and super-
cillious look.

CAPTAIN AL1STA1R SHACKLETON continues to keep our
sponsored ACF Detachment happy by arranging helicopter
familiarisation flights for them. This month we also invited
along the rival Bangor Detachment in a subtle attempt to
convert them to the other wing of St Barbara. The RAF did us
proud with some spectacular low level flying which simulated
their operational role and the excited green faces of the lads
testified what a great time they had.
The GOC, Lieutenant General Sir Timothy Creasey, recently
spent a morning at Kinnegar where he saw our Fork Lift
Driver of the Year Competition in progress. This was won by
Lance Corporal Spicer of the Ammunition Sub-Depot yet again,
we really 'must post him to let others have a chance next year.

(Int).
WOl Walch is shortly on the move to savour the
delights of Deepcut and hopes to get his Lancia Monte Carlo
Coupe (V registered) repaired before he arrives there!!
Staff Sergeant Todd and Sergeant John Derbyshire have the
problems of instructing Intelligence Corps soldiers in the finer
arts of clerking.
Also within Rowcroft Barracks are Staff Sergeant Graham
Creighton and Corporal Bob Sutton both on detachment from
1 AIDU (East). Their ' Black Maria' is a familiar sight in the
area and their 1771's numerous. Finally, in charge of the ACIO
in Ashford is Sergeant Dave Lloyd, who continues to entice un-
suspecting members of the public into the Army. Although
not now serving, mention must be made of ex-WOl Brian
Halliday who is the assistant in the Intelligence Corps Museum.
Being in such small numbers it it felt that individual Unit
newsletters would not be a practical proposition and it is hoped
that in future, following this contribution from Sergeant George
Leadbitter, other departments will in turn produce a station
newsletter.
Volunteers to OC OSU please!
