THERE are some new RAOC faces around
the Headquarters. Segreant Farr has arrived
from Germany to complete his service in
the Army with six months in Bulford. Staff
Sergeant Careless has now settled down in
' G ' Training as has Major Bob Bracken in
Ordnance Branch. We wish all the newcomers
a happy stay in the Headquarters.
OSU Tidworth has closed its gates for
the last time and OSU Weyhill has opened
in far better accommodation. This month's
photograph shows OSU Weyhill from the air. In the last year
RAOC South West District has seen many changes: the dis-
bandment of TMP Taunton and reforming as TMP Warminster,
the disbandment of OSU Tidworth and reforming as OSU Wey-
hill ; in the New Year the disbandment of OSU Bovington.
We are also losing the military officer cover in OSU Coy-
pool and the Unit will be commanded by a Stores Officer Grade
' C,' Mr Jack Hockley.
The Corps is really looking after Corporal Joe Charleson,
a recent transferee into the RAOC from the Gunners. He
had no sooner completed his probationary period as a Staff
Clerk in G Branch when he was smartly rebadged and promoted
from Lance Bombardier to Corporal. We are delighted to wel-
come him into the Corps. We are doing quite well overall for
transferees and have managed to attract seven NCOs from other
Arms during 1979.
It is all systems go in our corridor with Major Reg Frisby,
the Corps Ski Secretary, getting everything packed up for
Exercise Snow Plough 1980 due to take place in March. We
now have dry snow stacked in the corridor with Major Frisby
practising his slaloms. Next will be a request for a ski lift, but
we feel that Q Quartering will regard it with a jaundiced eye!

School
for Boys
and Girls Aged
3k years to
13 years.
The academic aim of the School is to prepare children for the Common
Entrance Examination, and entrance to all Senior schools.
Classes are kept small in order that individual attention can be given to
each child. No class exceeds fourteen children.
The grounds of just over two acres, include a football field, hard play-
ground with tennis/netball court, an adventure playground, and a
heated outdoor swimming pool.
The School is only five minutes drive from Deepcut, and very con-
venient for those stationed at the R.A.O.C. Training Centre.
The
Principal, who is an ex Regular R.A.O.C. Officer, naturally extends a
special welcome to children of R.A.O.C. families.
Children in the Upper School are encouraged to join the Drama, Art
and Music Societies, which meet after normal school hours. The
School has its own Cub Scout and Brownie Guide Packs.
We believe at Clewborough House that the development of the child
must include preparation in good manners, courtesy to others, and self
discipline. We have taken as our motto 'Work hard. Play hard' and we
encourage the children accordingly.
Further details may be obtained from the Principal.
