Belize has three main British Camps; Rideau Camp in the south of the country, Holdfast Camp in the west and Airport Camp in the east and adjacent to the International Airport, which is some ten miles from Belize City. SEND IT TO T H E GAZETTE A short article about events—places—people is always interesting particularly when accompanied by a photo- graph. Send it to THE GAZETTE. — 330 NEWS Birmngham Branch WE did not learn of the death of Brigadier Bob Hiam until a considerable time after the sad event, and it was gratifying to read in the columns of Tjm GAZETTE the fine tributes paid to him by Major General Sir John Hildrcth, and Brigadier D. S. Robinson. He had been a member of our Branch since nineteen fifty two. An extremely busy man, we did not sec much of him, but he always provided a prize for our Christ- mas draw. Working for the same employer I had known him since nineteen twenty eight, and can confirm just what a kind- hearted, generous and fairmlndcd gentleman he was. He could be the life and soul of the party, and sometimes at com- pany functions, when they were all male affairs, we would manage lo persuade him to do his party piece which was a special version of,' Old King Cole.' He had a marvellous sense of humour, he will be missed, but more, he will be remembered. Approximately sixty people attended our Christmas draw, and everybody had a very enjoyable evening. Our President John Marrian, and Vice-President Major General Key and Mrs Key attended. The operation was very successful, and we owe a gTcat deal to organisers Ken and Muriel Curric, and George Little, to all those who sold tickets, and to those who provided the prizes. Dickie Bird joined the Birmingham Branch many years ago, but eventually he found that travelling from Newark, where he had retired, too much to undertake and transferred to the Chil- wcll Branch. Sad to say he died early in January. A floral tribute was sent from the Branch, and the funeral service at Newark was attended by Major Benny Morton and his wife, Lieutenant Colonel George Little, and Branch Secretary Harry Arkinstall. We do extend our sincere sympathies to his wife Sybil. KEEP IN TOUCH WITH THE CORPS THROUGH THE RAOC ASSOCIATION RAOC Assurance Association 18 Chequers Square, Uxbridge, Middlesex Tel.
