Farewell to Staff Sergeant Jim Massey who leaves us on posting to BAOR and welcome to Staff Sergeant Brian Leveritt from BAOR to G Branch. ACCOMMODATION SERVICES UNIT THIS month we say farewell to Major Tom Fowler and wish him a long and happy retirement, and we say a hearty welcome to Major Bill Adams who has recently joined us. 6 Field Force Ordnance Company MOST of the month has been taken up with re-organisation and re-furbishing all the Unit vehicles and equipment in readi- ness for the new exercise period. As part of a regimental training day, the Unit attended an interesting—and dare we say enlightening—day at Bagshot Park with Padre Paul Mears and his staff. On the social side, a successful Valen- tines' Day Dance was held in the Unit Club. For this, many thanks to Corporal Tony Frangos, Leapy Lee and the club committee for the hard work they put in at very short notice. On the sports side, the soccer team have unfortunately hit a bad patch recently resulting in several defeats. However, a reverse in fortunes is hoped for in the near future. And just to prove the validity of that statement, the result of our last match was RADC Training Centre two—Ordnance Company five. The ' social' sports scene improved by leaps and bounds, when the PC and C ladies team took on all comers in the Unit basketball league. The results are on the same secret list as the Unit shooting team versus the German Hunters Clay Pidgeon results during last years Exercise Steel Trap. (Ask the Adjutant of Depot and Training Battalion about those!) An aftermath to the basketball match was a young soldier trying to purchase, from Sergeant ' Neil' Jamieson, our PRI salesman, one of those sweatshirts with ' bumps' like the girls wear! Many congratulations to Sergeant Robbo Robinson on his promotion and detachment to Belize. Welcome to Lance Corporals Bionic Rowlands and Geordy Broughton and Private Nobber Curtin. FAMOUS DRINKS Farewell to Corporals Barry Whitcbrcad and Wilky Wilkin- son and Private Scouse Pike. STORES SECTION 36 ENGINEER REGIMENT WORKSHOP IT is Monday morning and in walks the OC Workshop Captain Sam Jarvis REME. " Mr Irwin " says he, " what about writing some notes for THE RAOC GAZETTE." And so Mr. Irwin passed to me a memo just two little words on it ' GAZETTE Notes.' Delegation of responsibility he says! We are situated in Invicta Park, Maidstone, Kent, and our' vital role is to provide Spares Support to our parent Workshop to enable them to carry out 1st Line Repairs to ' B ' Vehicles and 1st and 2nd Line Repair to ' C Vehicles. The Section is all Military headed by our WOIC WOl Bryan Irwin, ably assisted in the office by Sergeant Eddie Gybas, Corporal John Mackle and Lance Corporal Steve Hartley. The Storehouse is manned by Corporal Alan Barnes with Lance Corporal Mick Gould and Private Paul Duffy. Keeping us in wheels are Corporal Lofty Allwood and Private Nobby Henry. The staff all fight each other for the many opportunities to travel all over the world with different Squadrons on Detach- ment (I wonder why!), countries visited to name but a few are: Belize, Kenya, Gambia, Cyprus, Oman, Canada and the inevit- able Northern Ireland. Welcome back from Canada to Lance Corporal Gould. More news to follow next month. Army Air Corps HEADQUARTERS DA AC ORD (AIR) BRANCH. The SOI has just returned from his annual visit to BAOR. On the outward journey his plane was diverted to Hannover owing to bad weather and he had to suffer a sixteen hour mystery tour by coach to Bielefeld.
