to Sergeant Skyrme in Kenya and no doubt we will not lose sight
of Sergeant ' Jack' Frost who just moved down the road to
5th Field Force Ordnance Company.
Welcome to Staff Sergeant Crouch. Sergeant Dean and
Privates Breen and Cain.

COMPUTERISATION is creeping in closer with each day—
and we wonder how many of us will have been made redundant
by next Christmas—or will we need to increase our establish-
ment in order to understand computer jargon!
M and RO have done their thing yet again; the fifty per
cent strength that didn't get posting orders in the latter half of
1979 have now been blessed and are wondering if 87 was
really so bad, or are they heading for rougher times.
The OC, Major Johnson, Sergeants Graham MuIIarkey and
Clive Hitchcock have all bought themselves a canine. Now it
really does rain cats and dogs!
The Gods were good to us by delaying the ARU till April
—giving us more time to make excuses for not taking part in
the Tickle Test. Alas! it is now about to catch up with us.
We welcome Corporal Andy Anderson and his family and
feel sure they will enjoy their stay at Munster.
STORES PLATOON 15 FIELD
WORKSHOP
HELLO, goodbye and congratulations are the order of the day
this month.
We say goodbye and congratulations to Staff
Sergeant Ron Ferguson and Private Paul Goody who have
left us on promotion, and goodbye to our longest serving
member Corporal Phil Moreton. To replace them we welcome
Staff Sergeant Benny Gorbould, Corporal Joe Leatherbarrow
and Private Paul Cartwright.
Congratulations are also due
to Geoff Wood on his promotion to Corporal, to Lance Corporal
Steve Whittaker on passing his driving test and to Mick
Berger. currently in Northern Ireland, on promotion to
Sergeant. Everything comes to those who wait!
Most of our time now is taken up with preparing for
our Northern Ireland tour. Several lucky men have been
chosen from a cast of thousands to join us for the trip, namely
W02 Jim McCarrick, Corporal Alan Mayo and Private Chris
Emmerton from Corps Troops Workshop: Sergeant Alan
Carter, Corporal Mick Turner and Lance Corporals ' Bizz'

Leslie, ' F r u b ' Joyce and Ian Sharpe from 5 Field Force Ord-
nance Company. We welcome all of them and hope they
enjoy their time with us.
Our OC, Lieutenant Simon Hall, has recently returned
from a Unit Messing Officers Course. He must have learned a
lot as he gained a stone in his two weeks away.
Lance
Corporal Stan Preston, our resident dietician, will no doubt
help him to shed a few pounds. Staff Sergeant Kevin Reardon
continues to advance his refereeing career and hopes to be at
the World Cup finals representing his new abode Brunei, which
is his destination in May. Don't forget our complimentary
tickets Kevin!
Having read through so far I see there are only four
platoon members not mentioned, namely our three drivers
Corporal Tom Povey, Lance Corporal Steve Prowen and
Private Paul Tonks and our SSS (Super Supply Specialist)
Private ' Scooter' Foye.
There you are lads, you weren't
forgotten!
5 Field Force Ordnance Company
IT is some time since
you heard from us so,
with the aid of various
dictionaries and with a
thesaurus at my side,
I will attempt to bring
you up to date.
The most import-
ant news is the arrival
of the new OC, Major Peter Haden. After his arrival I finally
discovered why certain people were feverishly taking music and
sailing lessons when they heard who the new OC was going to
be. Some of you may have guessed the answer, yes our new
OC is an intrepid sailor and an accomplished organist. We
welcome Major Haden and hope his tour as OC will be a
happy one.
We said farewell to Major and Mrs Norman-Bailey with the
Senior Ranks dining them out at the Wild Park Hotel and the
Unit saying farewell at a specially arranged disco in the Iron
Bridge Tavem Club. The dinner was memorable because we
also said farewell to W02 and Mrs Starrett and the OC, taking
a leaf out of Eamonn Andrews book, did an impromptu " This
is your life" on Paddy Starrett. Paddy is still trying to ex-
plain away some of the facts revealed!
Our CSM, Brian Scribbins, and his wife Dorothy were
very proud parents when their son Gary signed his Attestation
Papers in front of Major Norman-Bailey recently. A murmur
of disapproval was heard from the CSM when it was learned
that Gary joined the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers.
Our football team ably managed and skippered by Sergeant
Mick Higham and Corporal Jimmy James, are leading the
Munster Garrison Minor Units League table. They hope to
win the league as they have a couple of games in hand over
their nearest rival. Our top goal scorer with six goals is Private
Tam Queen. Mick Higham though will still not talk about the
game played in Berlin against the Signals. The team lost ten
to two, ' it was raining' the players claimed apparently only on
their side of the pitch!
Whispers are heard that the hockey team plays matches.
On confronting Sergeant Ray Brooks with this information
he pleaded to be given time in order to come up with results.
Second Lieutenant Brant, our athletic and full of energy
young officer, is valiantly trying to run the Cross Country and
Orienteering Team. The team does occasionally come up with
some results, so Mr Brant says he will persevere to the bitter
end. Current runners are Corporal Peter Learmonth, Lance
Corporal Martin Stevens, Privates Mel Ward, ' Spike * Best and
Steve (Moaner) Duffield.
Congratulations to Staff Sergeant John Beck on his sub-
stantive promotion and to Lance Corporals Geordie Joyce, Phil
Handley, Bob Phillips and Robbo Robertson on their pro-
motions.
Farewell to W02 Paddy Starrett, Corporals Stew Brooks,
Clive Craister, John Pensom and Ben Gunn, Lance Corporals
Mick (Shep) Shepherd, Steve Carter and Bill Rennie and Private
Tam Queen.
A welcome to W02 Ron Ferguson, Sergeants Ron Eden and
Arthur Warburton, Corporals Max Towells, Graeme Orr and
Dave Vann, Lance Corporals Phil Hussey and Martin Stevens,
Privates Ray Simmons, 'Spike' Best, ' Wingnut' Noonan,
Paddy Walsh and Gordon MacArthur.
