quarters in Bombay. During the Second World War he served
with the RAF from 1943 to 1948 in many parts of the world
including the Burma Campaign. He arrived in the Colony
with his Unit in 1945 and on discharge joined this Head-
quarters as a locally engaged civilian.
The few people who could not avoid reading recent Army
Routine Orders for Hong Kong were probably amused to find
that the RAOC, in order to comply with the health and safety
at work act, were to issue ' Formaldehyde ' a s an ' In Lieu '
item for chemical closets.
The Senior Ordnance Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Fox,
being a former holder of the Office of OC Ammunition Sub-
Depot, is conducting his own investigation for the recent
change in the title of that Unit (as published in the amend-
ment to the Telephone Directory) to 'Ammunition-Sin-Depot.'
The demise of the ' Puttee' is rumoured from RAOC
sources in Hong Kong.
At least we have it on file that
several hundred of these need ' dying.'
Composite Ordnance Depot Hong Kong
WHAT lucky people are we in Hong Kong. Not only do we
have our own New Year but we join in with the local people
to celebrate Chinese New Year. To our regular readers we
would wish you Kung Hei Fat Choi as we enter the year of
the Monkey.
The main depot is currently undergoing a
completely new facelift.
Chinese decorator's and bamboo
canes are much in evidence everywhere, although recent pro-
gress has been somewhat marred by extremely cold weather which
is uncommon here in Hong Kong and quickly effects the work-
ing function of the average Chinaman.
Three members, Sergeant Steve Davis and Corporals Danny
Kay and Willie Morton of ASD, are now outboard motor trained
and more are nominated for future courses, we look forward to
getting our own boat to carry out island patrols.
The new Supply Depot has been completed.
Corporal
Fred Robbins has set up the compo packing line in the new
depot and can be seen operating his rice deinfestation plant at
all hours of the day and night.
The photograph was taken to mark the retirement of Mr
Tsang and Mr Young from the Supply Depot. They had
clocked up a total of sixty two years service between them
and will be sadly missed. Our new CO, Lieutenant Colonel E.
G. Archer, presented them with their CBF Testimonials at a
farewell luncheon.
M r Tsang and M r Young retire from the Supply Depot.
AQ and Q Quartering say farewell to M r
thirty one years.

ACCOMMODATION
SERVICES UNIT
WE are happy to congratulate and to welcome Mr Leslie
Tai and Mr Wong- Chi Chiu on appointment as Accom-
modation Services Accountants.
Both have been posted to
the New Territories detachment. For Mr Tai this is a return
to the ASU fold; he was formerly a storekeeper at the old
Queensway Store. We also welcome Mr Fong Wing Chuen
on promotion as Storekeeper from the Composite Ordnance
Depot.
Still fondly known as ' Sergeant Fong,' he was a
member of the Hong Kong MSC in Blackdown Barracks.
Congratulations go to Mr Lee Sham who has been trans-
ferred to the Depot on promotion.
Sadly we bid farewell to Mr Ho, for many years ASA in
charge of the Accommodation Store in Kowloon.
Mr Ho
is retiring slightly prematurely to join his family in Italy where
they are running a highly successful restaurant in Milan. Mr
Har Chack Lam has been transferred from Sek Kong to take
over the Kowloon hot seat.
Mr Tao and Ricky Lee continue to do their bit on border
duties with the Royal Hong Kong Police and ' The Volunteers.'
M. P. Wong continues to try to get grass to grow on his lawn,
and we hear that Mr S. L. Ip has become an interior decorator.
Once more the Quartermaster Department bursts forth into
print and any regular readers of our column will be pleased (or
not) to hear that the CQMS (Staff Sergeant Pete Fellowes) has
now received his posting. He thanks his friends at Wigston and is
looking forward to driving his tax free car around Paderbom.
Congratulations go to WOl Dave Hurren (REME), W02
Frank Lawrence, W02 Pete Coull, Staff Sergeant Geordie
Adamson, Sergeant Brian Jones (REME) and Corporal Saxby
on the award of the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, to
Corporal John Aldridge on being selected for the British Forces
cricket tour of the Phillipines, and to Corporal Frank Weissgerber
and Grace on their recent marriage and retirement to civilian
life in Scotland.
Our farewells go this month to WOl Ted Walker and
family, Staff Sergeant Jimmy King and family, Staff Sergeant
Walter Murray and family (The Ladies Bowling Team will
certainly miss you Lynn), Corporal Bill Williams and family
(ACC) and last but by no means least Corporal Dave Bee and
family.
We welcome to the exotic land of the Mystic East WOl
Graham Budgen and family, Staff Sergeant Charlie Orr and
family, Sergeant Tom Hart and family, Corporal Dave Redfern
and family and Corporal John Crawford and his family—may
your stay be enjoyable.
