Transcription Brunei Garrison
AS our usual scribe, Staff Sergeant Graham
Manders, has his hands quite full this month
he is taking a well earned rest, or is he?
Apart from being NCO i/c Stores Section,
Cub Scout Leader and rugby player, he has
also been acting Garrison Chief Clerk for
the past few weeks and has now joined the
Garrison Camera Club!
Highlight this month was the excellent
dining out of Sergeant Alan and Mrs Edna
Owen, in the form of a Regimental Dinner
with wives attending. Interspersed with the efforts of W02 Chris
Hadfield and his (hmm!) instant camera and followed by music
for dancing, an enjoyable time was had by all. The following
week Edna and Alan retaliated with a party in the Garrison
Mess which was duly swallowed by everyone attending.
The Garrison Camera Club is now gathering momentum
and members. Ably chaired by Major Cartin, our Garrison
Engineer, the club meets twice monthly with talks and demon-
strations by other members. First activity of the New Year
was a slide competition and the following meeting by the demon-
stration of black and white developing and contact printing.
Most recently an outing was organised to the State Capital and
members spent an exhausting day capturing things in general on
black and white and colour. Although members arc not up to
colour developing yet, it is hoped that everyone will process
their own black and white over the next few meetings. (What
about some of the results for Tire GAZETTE black and white
please! Editor).
Last meeting of the Cub Scouts, saw their happy band
trundling off over the Belait River on the local ferry. But no
report or photos yet, of the cubs in action!
The results of the RAOC Inspecting Officers visit, in Novem-
ber last year have been received and to all intents and purposes
we all did very well and proved that a very satisfactory service
is being given to our dependent Units. Well done everybody in-
cluding our ardent rugby player who happened to be on tour at
the time!
Welcome to Corporal Rod and Mrs June Shaw, hoping
you will enjoy your time in Brunei.
