Transcription MAJOR ROBERT JOHN PALLANT (RETD)
MAJOR D. V. HENDERSON (Retd) writes: —
' D i c k ' Pallant died from a heart attack on 10th March
1980, having retired in November 1962. He enlisted in 1925
and trained as an Ammunition Examiner.
In 1939 he went to France with the first BEF, returning to
the United Kingdom, as did many others, in June 1940. Com-
missioned shortly afterwards, he soon became a member of that
band of knowledgeable, hardworking men whose wide-ranging
expertise and ability were used so often by their more recently
arrived, less experienced colleagues. With the rcintroduction
of formalised inspection procedures for ammunition and ex-
plosives after the war, he played an essential part in the branch
set up to record and control this work. He continued to serve
in Headquarters Ammunition Organisation with a break in
Singapore, where he worked in Ord 4 from 1949 to 1952.
A staunch supporter of Portsmouth City Football Club,
he was quietly spoken, with a gentle manner but was nevertheless
a determined man whose work was invariably meticulously per-
formed and whose advice came over in a friendly manner.
The best type of professional soldier.
He was cremated at Portchester Crematorium on 19th
March, the Last Post and Reveille being played impeccably by
Bugler Alan Sessions, Royal Marines, Eastney.

CONDUCTOR MICHAEL CRAWLEY
CAPTAIN R. W. S1DER writes: —
It was with great grief and sadness that I learned of the
death of my dear friend Mike Crawley. We first teamed up
together in the Planning Branch at COD Donnington in 1970
and worked on several projects together and became firm
friends.
An ex-Merchant Navy man, Mike came into the
Corps in 1965, transferring from the RASC. His knowledge of
work study and his experience was phenomenal. He had a
wonderful sense of humour and his capacity for hard work
was amazing. He was always cheerful and uncomplaining no
matter what the circumstances were. Knowing he was stricken
with illness since late last year, Mike remained his usual jovial
self under the tremendous pressure of his treatment and was
an example of faith to everyone he met. Honesty, integrity
and loyalty were the hallmarks of his character and he was held
in high esteem by both his civilian and military colleagues
alike, who I know will join me in mourning his passing, and
extending deepest sympathies to his wife Sandra and children,
Classon, Duncan, Aaron and Beth.

MAJOR E. JENNINGS
MRS CHRIS JENNINGS writes: —
I would like to express my appreciation and sincere thanks
for all the help, kindness, letters, cards and the many beautiful
floral tributes received when Eddy died so suddenly. I have
so many happy memories of the years we spent together in the
Corps and all the friends both military and civilian we met.
I will miss you, all.
