Directorate of Supply Management
HEADQUARTERS
S MAN 1. Len Bullock having been with S Man la since
shortly after it was formed in 1977 has decided to retire after
completing forty one years service for the Crown. Len served
in the RAF until 1972, seeing service as aircrew during the
Second World War, followed by specialisation in the handling
and disposal of explosives and fuels in the RAF Supply
Branch. He was promoted to Squadron Leader in 1962, serving
in many Units throughout the world, the majority of which he
managed to close down. LE(A) Andover must feel lucky that
it is the first Unit that has not closed down whilst he has been
serving in it After a short break in 1972 he joined the Civil
Service as a clerk working for RAF Support Command until
RAF Andover closed in 1977. He joined LE(A) in November
1977.
Len has become well known in many branches and divisions
of DSM(A) as well as MOD Army and PE Branches in
London.
He will be missed by all who have worked with him but
he leaves with the knowledge that we all wish him a happy
retirement hoping that his recent years of ill health do not im-
pede his carrying out an impressive home improvement and
gardening plan.
We keep reminding him of the story of the old bull and
the young bull!

SCHOOL OF ORDNANCE
THIS month saw the departure of Colonel Ossie Logan on retire-
ment after thirty three years service, the last four of which
have been as Commandant of the School.
Some sixty specially invited guests dined him out in the
School Mess and witnessed a type of • This is your life ' per-
formance. Appearances in this were made by, amongst others,
Major General Mike Callan, Colonel John Liveing and Colonel
George Crooks. Lieutenant Colonel Colin Rogers rounded off
with an excellent after-dinner speech which earned more ap-
plause than G. Hoffnung at the Oxford Union.
