1906 1983 THE ROYAL ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS GAZETTE VOLUME 65 No. 1 PUBLISHED MONTHLY NET CIRCULATION 7,750 JUNE 1983 THE ASSOCIATION REUNION A FULL REPORT of the very successful annual RAOC Association Reunion, held recently at Blackdown Barracks, Deepcut, appears on page 8. THE JOURNAL OF THE ROYAL ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS AND ARMY ORDNANCE SERVICES AND THE OFFICIAL ORGAN OF THE RAOC ASSOCIATION THE EDITOR'S NOTICES Principal guest at Dinner on the Saturday evening, was Mr Henry Cooper OBE, a one time Lance Corporal of 4 Battalion RAOC, stationed at Blackdown Barracks. Henry Cooper, the subject of this months cover, did his National Service in the Corps —and naturally some boxing, during the mid-fifties. In fact it was quite a boxing team the Battalion had during this period for also in the squad was George Cooper (Henry's twin brother who was also a guest at the dinner) Joe Erskine, Dennis Hinson, Ronnie Hinson, Eddie Wooland and Nicky Gargagno all of whom turned professional on leaving the Corps. It was an excellent evening, as was the rest of the week- end programme hosted by the Training Centre. Our Association Reunions seem to go from strength to strength—as one member put it " We are already looking forward to 1984." Editor: COLONEL E. RIDGEWAY, OBE (Retd.). Treasurer: COLONEL S. B.
