A COMMEMORATION IN HANNOVER LIEUTENANT COLONEL JOHN WOODFORD"S death nearly ten years ago greatly saddened his many friends and colleagues. He was serving as CRAOC 4th Division at the time and is buried in the Hannover Military Cemetery. Recently officers of the Headquarters RAOC 1 (BR) Corps, together with members of 4 Ordnance Battalion remembered him by laying a wreath at the Hannover Military Cemetery on behalf of all RAOC Officers and Soldiers serving in 4 Armoured Division. Photo Donald C. Eades. Colonel Shephard presents the Corps cap badges. After the Badging Ceremony-a film and demonstration was given by the RAOC Mobile Display Team at which there were representatives from 81 Ordnance Company who had recently returned from the Falkland Islands. The evening concluded with a cold buffet organised by the Liaison Officer which was enjoyed by all and rounded off a most enjoyable and memorable evening. RAOC CYPRUS TRIUMPH ' FROM small acorns grow sturdy oaks,' could well be said of the RAOC Cyprus Cross Country and Road Running Team. From a total strength of a little over seventy, the team has recently won the Cyprus Marathon, ten and fifteen miles road races in addition to a whole series of second and third placings, including second Island Team in the Walkabout. Shown above from left to right are: Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Bryant, Staff Sergeant Graham Stanton (Captain), Staff Sergeant Gary Curtis, Sergeant Kevin Smith, Colonel Peter Forshaw, Sergeant Chris Moon, W02 Pat Long and Lieutenant Colonel David Elliott. The grave at Hannover Military Cemetery. A LIVING MEMORIAL MANY members of the Corps who have previously served in Donnington will remember the gardener Alec Bratton who tendered the Officers Mess gardens and many of those in Humber Way. Alec died recently, and as a commemoration to him an oak tree has been planted in the Mess grounds by his sister. The RAOC Cyprus Cross Country and Road Running Team with their trophies.
