DEED
Under a Deed of Trust first issued by the Charity Com-
mission in 1952 the following three funds were established
to receive the assets of disbanded RAOC Units:
RAOC Central Officers Mess Fund
RAOC Central Sergeants Mess Fund
RAOC Central PRI Fund
The conduct of the funds is regulated by an Executive
Committee, which is responsible to the RAOC Managing
Trustees for the efficient operation of the institution. Full
details are contained in Corps Instructions No. 610 and 620.
At the discretion of the Executive Committee grants may be
made to units, messes, regimental institutes and individuals,
or otherwise for the benefit of personnel serving in the
RAOC. The Standing Orders regarding the administration
of the Funds are in Corps Instruction No. 610.

7. The Executive Committee approved during 1982 special
grants totalling £15,390 to units and individuals for activities
as varied as a mountaineering expedition, a trek across a
desert, trans-Atlantic sailing, a jungle trek, various sports
equipment and assistance to those units whose personnel
were involved in the operation to recover the Falkland
Islands. In addition, the Executive Committee approved
loans to units and projects totalling £8,450.
8. These special grants and loans are made by the Executive
Committee from a sum of money which is set aside each
year to help individuals, groups and units who, by their
sporting or adventurous activities and the sponsorship of
special projects, bring credit to the Corps or benefit to its
members. When these involve the individual, group or unit
in significant private expense, the Committee will consider
making a grant as a contribution to funding the project.
9. Applications for a grant or loan should be made by a unit
or individual in January each year as stated in Corps In-
struction No. 610 paragraphs 11 and 12.
COVENANTING
ONE DAY'S PAY
SUBSCRIPTIONS
10. RAOC Central Funds and through them all Corps In-
stitutions, need and receive annual subscriptions from the
RAOC Officers and Soldiers One Days Pay Schemes. All
Corps Funds can receive a big boost to income if members
covenant their subscriptions, as outlined in the RAOC
GAZETTE March 1983 edition on pages 384 and 385. This
increase of 40p for every £ subscribed to Corps Funds by
covenanting is obtained by a tax refund from the Inland
Revenue without the payment of any increase in sub-
scription or the undertaking by members of any commit-
ment which is not automatically cancelled when a soldier
leaves the Army. All Corps Institutions will achieve this
highly desirable goal if every member covenants his sub-
scription—please obtain particulars from your Orderly Room.
