TABLE
FOLLOWING the closure of the Windberg Officers Mess the
RAOC Officers from Viersen have become members of the
3 BAD Officers Mess. Prior to a recent Regimental Luncheon
Lieutenant Colonel Curtis presented an attractive table, to be
known as the ' Old Viersen Table.' Colonel Hopkinson accepted
the table on behalf of the RAOC Officers Mess Bracht.
As soon as he was securely astride his steed, the Major was
towed around the Depot, muscle power being provided by the
combined efforts of the Depot's officers and NCOs.
All personnel were turned out on the Parade Square, and
their cheering and applause was joined by the lights and sirens
of the Depot's Fire Brigade as the Major was towed out of the
gates, where he finally dismounted.
The occasion was not only a farewell, but also a celebration,
as Major Braithwaite is promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.

A ' chairing out' with a difference, took place recently, at the
Forward Vehicle Depot Recklinghausen, when Major David
Braithwaite, left for pastures new, namely 9 Ordnance Battalion,
in Corsham, Wiltshire.
Major Braithwaite, was ' chaired out,' but in a style befitting
a Forward Vehicle Depot. After a reception in the Sergeants
Mess he was escorted to his ' chair,' a somewhat battered 350 cc
BSA motorcycle, mounted on a Bedford four tonne truck.
Leaving in style.

MOVE
MRS JOYCE LEE, who has been THE GAZETTE Clerical Officer
for some seven years, has left Blackdown on transfer to the
RAMC Depot at Mytchett. Mrs Lee was responsible, among
other duties, for GAZETTE accounting and distribution and was
well known to many orderly rooms in dealing with their
distribution problems—as well as for her terse little notes when
their accounts were overdue!
We wish her well in her new appointment. Her place on
Blackdown extension 516,has been taken by Mrs Dee Bridgewater.
