Transcription STORES SECTION
16 TANK TRANSPORTER
WORKSHOP
AS it is so long since the Stores Section last had a mention in
THE GAZETTE let me first introduce everyone.
The section says hello to W02 Ron Gray, Corporal Phil
Wilson, Lance Corporals Davy Muldoon and Percy Pcrcival.
Other members of the section arc Sergeant John Lcgg, Corporal
Colin Brothwcll, Privates Ken Wishart and Snowy Snowdon,
(the baby of the section). The section has never had it so
good.
On the other hand wc say farewell to W02 Tony Matthews
and Corporal Steve Foster, good luck in your new units.
How the work gets done when our MSO Hcnryk Matysiak
and Wladyslaw Jagiela are away 1 don't know, what with W02
Gray away playing golf, Private Snowdon playing football,
Corporal Brothwell playing cricket, Corporal Wilson playing
hockey and Lance Corporal Pcrcival running marathons!
Lance Corporal Muldoon and Private Wishart take an active
interest in Egyptian PT.
The Stores Section has just done its half yearly BFT and
Private Wishart was running around telling everyone he had
passed more to his amazement than ours! Sergeant Lcgg has
decided that Lance Corporal Pcrcival is just a little bit too
fast for him.
Finally the section wishes to congratulate Private Wishart
on his campaign medal for the Falkland Islands last year.

HEADQUARTERS
AAC 1 (BR) CORPS.
All the work that piled up over the recent
exercises has been sorted out and cleared
so that Corporal Pete Yardlcy could go
on leave for two weeks. He came back
six weeks later having caught chicken pox
in the first week.
There is a rumour that it took his
wife ages to paint on all those spots and
even longer (six weeks) to scrub them
all off, we understand Mrs Yardlcy used
indelible ink!
Staff Sergeant Del Wauter passed his BFT (which now stands
for ' Bloomin Fatiguing Trial'). He is now mad
on
fishing, taking it easy after his efforts running on the banks of
the rivers and streams.
Brigadier Skinner kindly invited the three of us down for
coffee to meet the new Commander Supply and we actually met
some of the RAOC staff that work so hard below us—well
that's what they told me. What's more there were no cress
sandwiches, much to the annoyance of ever hungry S02 Aviation
Supply.
The burning question going round this Headquarters at the
moment is did Corporal Yardley really model for the S0s2
coffee mug?
THE FAACO's. At Hildersheim we have 1 Regiment AAC with
Staff Sergeant Outhwaite, and Sergeants Fullager and Crawford
only it seems that our ' gungho' hero Sergeant Crawford spends
his time defending the shores of the empire by serving in Falk-
land Islands and Northern Ireland. It must be that SNCOs
Outhwaite and Fullager are either paying for Sergeant Crawford
to remain away or playing records to keep him there. S02
Aviation Supply keeps wondering who this Crawford feller is!
In 3 Regiment AAC Sergeant Ellis seems to be holding the
fort (I think Sergeant Hall is doing his Akela bit again) and
fending off demands for the RAOC Prospectus 1983! Sergeant
Wilbourne must be having a rest.
In Detmold with 4 Regiment AAC, Staff Ginge Hicks rules
the roost but for some unaccountable reason is not there at the
moment, but has recently taken an interest in the Wild West.
Sergeant Cass has packed up his camera and gone off to
the Falklands and Sergeant Hart is running the show again, well
he said he liked helicopters!
Sergeant Reppe is doing great stuff in Minden with 664
Squadron. He has so impressed his OC with all the hard work
he does, that he has been allowed to have his own telephone
— 76
again. He can even manage standing at the hangar door with
steaming mugs of coffee when SOI Ord Air, Lieutenant Colonel
Franklin

must have pleased the Gods as he is off to Cyprus. Wc arc
trying to quash the rumour that Corporal Brown was un-
officially trying to backload his excess holdings of ' C class
items only it was unfortunate that (he previous OC's caravan
spilled the lot over the autobahn.
2 AIRCRAFT SUPPORT UNIT. All RAOC members of the Air
Corps BAOR gave Brigadier Skinner an engraved silver eagle on
his leaving I (BR) Corps, and for the support he has given to
us in the Aviation World as Commander Supply.
Sky-diving scene has taken off with Privates Williams and
Wilkinson both getting on to free-fall on the recent Basic Para-
chute course they attended, while the OC Captain Hawthorne
and Sergeant Frew jumped into the Berlin Olympic Stadium for
the Berlin Marathon, but were promptly arrested when they
jumped into Detmold Airfield a few days later for the visit of
the REME senior officers secretaries, some fast talking and
dealing finally settled the confusion.
The new racking has arrived; much to the delight of WOl
Candlin and Sergeant Dave Burton who can now put the new
design of the Storehouse into practice. Sergeant Stan Burton,
Corporal McDouall and Privates Doughty and Tyler arc now
working night shift to complete the relocation of some eighteen
thousand items.
The unit also paid an educational visit to Hcrforder Brewery
with everyone wearing lifejackcts and Staff Sergeant Danahcr
having a few take aways to have on the bus back to Detmold.
Congratulations arc in order to Corporal Mick and Diane
Kcmblc on the birth of their son Michael and also on his posting
to Hong Kong as a Sergeant. Also posted out are Corporal
Morrall to Middle Wallop, Lance Corporal Pawsey to Kincton
and our CRB Clerk Lynnc Kelly to Knightsbridge. (She's
married to a Life Guardsman you see.)
Postings in arc Sergeant Lythgoc, Corporal McCauley and
Private Cupitt back from the Falklands.

BITs, NESAM, TICKLE SAA, ASA Centenary
Dinners, ARUs, PQS results, Depot Modernisa-
tion, SATO injuries. Fire Officers Handovers,
OIC Inventory Control handovers, planning
and preparation for the Queen's Birthday
Celebrations and Exercise Venus Rock, to name
but a few, have all added to our sunshine
tours this month. You will note there is no
mention of the cross country team! However,
this small quote from astronaut Neil Armstrong
reflects a certain view on the subject—though not one commonly
held in this Unit: ' / believe that every human being lias a
definite number of heart-beats available to him, and I don't
intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercise.'
AMMUNITION
DEPOT. Being the turn of the Ammunition
Depot to produce notes, we start with the Depot's ' personae
dramatis.' Major Fitzsimmons, having been extended at the end
of his tour for a further seven months, has been relieving the
boredom by breaking his arm in a sailing accident (he's now
miserable because he can't drive his brand new Chevette). WOl
Roger Hubbard has received the good news of acceptance for
commissioning which perked the family up, having consigned
Dougal dog to kennels in UK to await their return. Staff
Sergeant Tony Thorogood also has had the good news about
promotion. Not to be out-done, Sergeant Dave Fordyce has
caught the promotion bug and he is not too despondent about
it. Perhaps it will make up for missing out on the pilot train-
ing. Our other AT, Sergeant Mick Finan, is busy breeding
birds of the feathered variety—he's played so much darts that
he needs feathers for flights. An active participator in ' any-
thing going,' he's attended (and passed) EPC Advanced, a pro-
jectionist course, is to attend a sub-aqua course and is con-
templating a Greek Islands Cruise on an adventurous training
scheme. Our storage expert, Sergeant Keith Walker, keeps
mentally busy with the Buffs and physically fit chasing his wife
Sadie, who has now got going a ladies' jogging group.
Corporal John McLellan is another course addict, having
completed RPC1, EPC and Fire Prevention Courses—in addition
to learning to drive and now looking at HGV3 prospects.
Corporal Ginge Caldwell is temporarily a bachelor, whilst his
wife returns to UK for the birth of their second baby. He is
on his third car in Cyprus—too much smoking is filling up the
