The alarm was raised and the depot fire brigade and twenty two appliances from Local Authority brigades, were deployed to fight the blaze. The fire was finally brought under control at about 1600 hours, but the storehouse and all its contents were completely destroyed. Fortunately, there was no loss of life or serious injury. The stock lost included ranges of mechanical transport, technical spares and textiles—held in bulk for the manufacture of uniforms. Arrangements are being made to speed up the procurement process for replacement items and to find alter- native storage tor receipts from trade.
