Transcription GAZETTES for both oflicers and soldiers, temporarily de-
tached from their units, should be sent on by their units.
Copies cannot be sent out by THE GAZETTE office, since we do
not know the details—nor could we cope with the turnover,
even if we had the ever changing information. Duplication of
orders also costs THE GAZETTE money. Your money!
Those on detachment need their GAZETTES to keep in touch
with the Corps and with their parent units, so please make sure
that copies are sent on to them as quickly as possible.
PORT OF
CALL
SEEN with Colonel E. M. Parry-Davies during the recent visit
of HMSTY British Soldier to the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club
are (left) Lieutenant Colonel D. R. Pudncy (Retd), now Deputy
Financial Secretary to the Bermudian Government, and Major
Jack Carswcll RCOC (Retd), who will be remembered as a
Canloan officer during the war, and then as OC of the Bicester
element of the Canadian Army Liaison Establishment between
1952/56.
Our photograph bottom left, shows the victorious team with
their trophies.
Unfortunately, over the weekend, the APTC found they
could not add up and discovered to their dismay that 1 Signal
Squadron had really won the Cup. Winners medals were
rapidly exchanged for second place trophies at Tidworth the
following week.

AN
EIGHT THOUSAND
MILES
GOLF
' LINK '
A UNIQUE link between Stanley Golf Club in the Falkland
Islands and the Salisbury and South Wilts Golf Club, Ncthcr-
hampton, Salisbury, Wiltshire, was forged recently when Sir Rex
Hunt, Civil Commissioner of the Islands, President of the
Stanley Club accepted an affiliation to the English Club.
Sir Rex Hunt and the Salisbury Club president were
' Piped ' to the eighteenth Tec by a Scots Guards Piper. There
they drove off simultaneously, and after holing out on the
eighteenth green the affiliation was toasted. (The eighteenth
hole is a short one hundred and fifty yards par three).
After the ceremony a Salisbury club member presented Sir
Rex Hunt with a set of new flag sticks for the Stanley course.
The aim of the affiliation is to create a mutual interest
between the two clubs, despite the eight thousand miles distance,
and encourage the revival of the Stanley club.

THE CUP THAT NEVER
WAS
THE Petroleum Centre RAOC athletics team was amazed, and
delighted, to find themselves winners of the South West District
Minor Units Cup at the South West District Athletics Meeting
at Tidworth Oval recently.

AIR
CORPS
DAY
ON 1st September 1982 there was a 25th Anniversary reunion
at the Army Air Corps Centre, Middle Wallop, attended by
many ex-Army aviators and aircraft engineers, including those
from other regiments and corps who had served in Army Air
Corps units. The event was much enjoyed and it has been
decided to hold a similar "Army Air Corps Day' on 1st Sep-
tember each year, which all will be welcome to attend.
This year we intend to: Open the station to families in
the morning, hold a short commemorative service at our
memorial, starting 1130 hours, to hold reunion buffet lunches in
the Officers and Sergeants Messes.
Anyone wishing to attend the buffet lunch should contact
the Mess concerned: Officers Mess £6.50 each; Sergeants Mess
£3.00 each.
COMMANDO
ORDNANCE
REUNION
THE Commando Ordnance reunion is to be held over the
weekend of 26th and 27th November 1983 at Plymouth. As the
reunion had to be cancelled last year it is hoped that this years
weekend will adequately compensate.
Although the programme of events has not been finalised
(except for a scenic tour of Union Street) the following are
outline ideas: —
Arrive Friday evening—run ashore etc.
Saturday evening—a trip by boat (not a Rigid Raider) up the
Tamar—with entertainment on board!
Sunday—depart after curry lunch.
If any ex-Squadron members wish to attend will you
please write to Captain G. G. Wilson at the Squadron, so that
he may finalise the cost of the reunion.
