Staff Sergeant Bob W a l l e r driving w i t h Captain M i k e Southworth in downtown Beirut. to Andover but couldn't stand the poor weather so came back. He assures us he went into work one afternoon to see S Man at LE(A) but we find this hard to believe. Trevor MacDonald of ITN just happened to drop in and wish Corporal Bill McKinney a happy twenty first birthday which left him quite speechless. I wonder if RAOC Records will send us an older man as the next Staff Clerk! On the sporting front Staff Sergeant Keith Tomlinson had another good game of football as Captain of the unit team. We just managed to beat a team from the two thousand strong American contingent (five nil). Sergeant Jimmy Brechin con- tinues his pursuit of adventure sports and his latest venture is to hang under a Chinook helicopter on a rope and fly around. The Americans call it Spy Rigging or ' dope on a rope,' we reserve comment. celebrations (namely a day off work), the celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen's official birthday and last but not least the visit of Commander Supply Hong Kong. Even if there are no official celebrations for the first anniversary of the Argentine surrender in the Falklands, W02 Paul Sutterby plans to hold his own as he is our sole Falklands veteran. On the sporting scene, the Depot recently won the RBMR Minor Units Boxing Trophy for the second year in succession (no LS participation in this one!) The OC, Major Alan Butter- worth, ably supported by WOsl Arthur Burns and Bob Watson regularly turn out for the Depot hockey team who seem to lose most games by the odd goal but recently recorded their first win, again by an odd goal. W02 Jack Leek plays the occasional game of rugby and he and W02 Paul Sutterby went to Hong Kong with the Regi- mental seven-a-side team for the Brit Forces Sevens competition, but didn't play owing to bad weather. A case of wet inside as well as out! San Miguel has a lot to answer for. WOsl Arthur Burns and Bob Watson and W02 Bob Davies regularly play soccer for the Berakas Old Stars, an expatriate team, with Arthur and Bob (Davies) normally playing one half each at the right back position. They both appeared on the field at the same time recently when both were ' capped' for their respective National teams in the Brunei Scotland v England match which Scotland won on penalties after a full time two all draw. Videos of the game are available at reasonable cost from either of our two International Stars! As a foot note it is rumoured that Captain Ian Quarrier is hoping to replace our former OC Logistic Depot as the most travelled officer in RBMR. He has been in Brunei but a short while and has already travelled to Singapore and back to the UK on duty trips.
