Sergeant John Blake and Corporal Joe McDonough, assisted
by Mrs Linda Sisson, organised a very successful badminton
tournament for DSM(A) personnel. Those who took pan en-
joyed themselves and planning for the next tournament, in
December, is in hand. The winners of the Tournament were
presented with their trophies by Colonel Warren.
Captain Collett has at long last ventured north of the
border, visiting firms in Scotland. He took Corporal Alex
Matthews with him, to act as an interpreter.
The SOI Provision reports that, following co-operation from
PSA, the re-furbishment of the ladies facilities within Buildings
155/156 is finished, and he is able to report the completion
of the Branch 1980/81 objectives and those of many of his
predecessors. Old Chilwellians are informed that Building 153,
previously Major Assemblies, has been bought, dismantled and
rebuilt as a Supermarket by the local Co-op in the last few
months. To jog the memory, this is the large shed nearest
Stapleford Lane/Ml Motorway.
Late News. The annual cricket match against Vehicle
Depot Hilton took place on 19th July. The result was a draw,
both teams scoring seventy eight runs from their allocated twenty
overs. Mr Nevill Freestone, normally Chieftain Spares and
their associated problems, made thirty seven not out. This
proved a match saver, but the catching must improve to support
him.
from
warmly welcome, to COD Donnington at movement priority im-
mediate, double red star, to enable him to obtain an on the
spot report of the fire for DGOS. The AAC as usual came up
trumps and provided a door to door helicopter service which en-
abled the report to be made within a matter of hours. We
know that D Sup Ops(A) is the hot seat but we hope Brigadier
Gerry will find that it cools down as he gets used to it.
To return to the farewell for Brigadier Peter, the show
had to go on so we lunched him out as planned and presented
him with a shield mounted with two Argentinian bayonets. He
was then sent home in a Fox Armoured Car, provided by
Vehicle Depot Ludgershall as shown on the previous page.

THE SOI, Lieutenant Colonel Smith, is again running the
Tennis within the Station, complete with his annual ' bad back.'
This time faith is supplemented for a short period by a neck-
brace. The first match of the season, against the Notts Police
resulted in a narrow win for the Police eight one. Sergeant John
Blake then rushed off to the Corps Tennis Championships from
whence he returned sunburnt and trophy-less, making every-
body wonder where he really went! W02 Graham Whittington
took another unsuspecting group on a mystery run around the
Vale of Belvoir, demonstrating his route-planning ability—start
and finish at a public house.
