DOUBLE
BY
BLACKLDO-SVN
A unique double has been achieved this year by the Blackdown
Theatre Club, they entered two plays in the 1983 Army Drama
Festival and came first and second (equal). The winning play,
' Habeas Corpus' by Alan Bennett, was produced by Lieutenant
Colonel Ian Gane, whilst Lieutenant Colonel Ian Bradley pro-
duced Ronald Harwood's 'The Dresser,' which was the runner
up. In each case the Adjudicator, Brigadier Peter Dietz (Retd),
congratulated the actors on their enthusiasm and professionalism
and the obvious enjoyment they gave to the large audiences.

Mr
of Larnaca and Mr George Kassapis of Symikismos Vresoules
were considered by the local Committee, chaired by Lieutenant
Colonel David Elliott, Commander Supply and awards of £75
and £50 respectively were made.
The Committee then forwarded the suggestions to UK
where, if accepted, there is a possibility of greater reward.
In acknowledgement of their success and to encourage
greater participation a certificate was designed and printed by
RAOC Cyprus.

The Army Drama Festival salver will be presented to the
Blackdown Club by Brigadier D. E. Ryan, Commander Education
UK. on the 22nd October in the Tela Theatre, at the end of the
club's autumn production. It is hoped that this will be before a
audience including the DGOS and the Mayor of Surrey Heath.
The other second equal was the Harp Players, NI,
Production of 'All for Mary ' in which the leading light was,
Lieutenant Colonel Mike Willis. You can't keep RAOC out of
the act!

BERLIN
THE BFG Accommodation Services Convention 1983 was held
in Berlin and was attended this year, for the first time, by full
representation from Headquarters RAF (G) and RAF units in
Germany.
The format of the Convention allowed those more daring
officers to take part in a trip (organised) to East Berlin during the
late afternoon.
Our photograph shows the Commander Supply BAOR,
Brigadier Alway, with officers attending the Convention. Major
Reg Granger, who master-minded the Convention is in the back
row, second from right.

LOCAL
SUGGESTIONS
Attending the Berlin Convention.
THE purpose of the MOD Suggestion Scheme is to foster the
cooperation of civilian and service personnel in the drive for
efficiency and economy and to encourage them by monetary
awards to submit suggestions.
This is exactly what two of the locally employed civilians
of the Dhekelia Detachment, Accommodation Services Unit,
Cyprus did. The technical suggestions by Mr Nicos Antoniou
