LIEUTENANT COLONEL W. W. GOODERS
LIEUTENANT COLONEL C. O .S. THOMAS writes: —
It was with much sadness that I received the news of the
death, early in August, of Wally Gooders. He will be well
remembered by many of the older, retired members of the Corps
and especially by those who were in Malaya during the
emergency period, when he was with me in Headquarters Malaya
Command. His willing support, sound advice and meticulous
regard for detail, were of great value and he was highly esteemed
throughout the Headquarters.
After my return to UK I did not meet Wally again until we
both had retired, but from 1962 my wife and I have been regular
visitors to the Gooders' home in Lindfield in Sussex. Mrs Peggy
Gooders died some three years ago.
May I, on behalf of all who knew Wally Gooders, offer
sincere sympathy on his death to his daughter Vivienne and his
son Charles, and assure them of the great affection with which
their father is remembered.
