Tim Walker who, because of the close proximity of the Toe H to his office, seems to be taking more notice of outdated sweets than the stats for the Group. It's a good job his clerk Frau Bagusch does not have to account for his diverted hours! Members of 3 BAD climbing in the Alpspitz Region. Left to right standing: W02 Veazey, RSM Roberts, Private Singfield. Kneeling: Private Falco, Corporal McKnight, Privates Fear and Tomlinson. A team of climbers led by the intrepid RSM Roberts recently successfully took on the Alpspitz and Zugspitz. The party consisted of Captain Chris Owen, W02 Stuart Veazey, Corporal Bruce McKnight, Privates Barry Falco, Mark Fear, Mark Singfield and Dave Tomlinson. The cricket season is now in full swing, with the unit team currently lying second in the league, having won the Rhine Area Minor Units Cup. The tennis team are not doing so well, even though Corporals Williamson and Weissgerber have not lost a match. Corporal Williamson beat Corporal Moiser in the final of the plate competition in the RAOC (BAOR) tournament. Corporal Moiser also lost in the doubles final of the Arms and Corps tournament. The Rheindahlen forty kilometres march was completed by the marching team. With team captain Sergeant Graham Drew ensuring the team finished by being last in. Even Sergeant John Rowe beat him. Congratulations go to Corporal and Mrs Biggs, Lance Corporal and Mrs Weedon and also Private and Mrs Plant, whose families have all increased, all boys. Welcome home to Major Browne on his release from hospital. Farewell and good luck to W02 Dennis Ahern on leaving the Service. We wish you well with your driving school. Other departures are Captain McGill, Sergeant Mills for his last six months in UK, W02 Ellis and Corporal Sullivan. Wel- come to Bracht to Captain Tony Hargreaves RAPC and Lieu- tenant Clive Walch also W02 Hodgekiss, Corporal Hartley and Private Mogg, we hope your tour is a happy one. Promotions this month went to Sergeant Young, Staff Sergeant Williams REME, Lance Corporals Smythe and Campbell to ranks shown. 15 Ordnance Group HEADQUARTERS OUR Chief Clerk, W02 Bob Bowrah went off fishing to represent FOD Dulmen in the RAOC BAOR Angling Cham- pionships and even returned with a trophy for the biggest fish, so all that practice at the static water tank paid off. Not to be outdone on the trophy scene WOl Steve Myers brought back two trophies for shooting to join the plaque he won with the Dulmen Amateur Dramatic Society (DADS). Two of our staff, Major Mike Knight and WOl Frank Rogers prefer going out in their car to attend a picnic (sorry conference) to put their case on the problem they have with the stocktaking world to Headquarters BAOR. Our resident PMC, of the Sergeants Mess, W02 Joe Hoareau, takes on the task of testing the coldness of the beer while entertaining the RSM of the local Bundeswehr Battalion, and he called that a duty! The Commander, Colonel Carruthers keeps trying to find nice weather for sailing but everytime he weighs anchor, so does the fine weather. His PA, Pat Malloch, will have to start tuning in her radio to the shipping forecast wave length. A mention must also be given to our tamed RAPC Major, FORWARD ORDNANCE DEPOT DULMEN REGIMENTAL WING. We are now well and truly into the throes of the Freedom of Dulmen preparations. Everyone is now on station having taken leave, yet the Orderly Room still looks empty—they're all on the square doing their own thing. The RSM is well rehearsed in these wonderful occasions having done it all before. Chilwell's loss is our gain! Or should it be the other way round! Staff Sergeant Sandie Baxter from the Planning world is only planning one thing—how to make his stay in southern waters pass quickly and comfortably. He won't go short of food though because he is taking over the ration accounts. Have a good trip Sandie. Private Adrian Hayward-Wills recently livened up the CDP world by showing them how to be a ' checker.' He is relaxing now by sticking thousands of envelopes down. We really must call him Hot Lips in future. A big welcome is extended to Sergeant Stuart King and wife Val on their timely arrival in Dulmen. Stuart has spent the last three months climbing mountains in Greenland. As Orderly Room Sergeant he now has other hills to climb, namely the paper hill under which it is rumoured a desk lies buried. We bid farewell to Lance Corporal Max Maxwell on post- ing to Northern Ireland, after a very successful tour with us. The parting message is that distance makes the heart grow fonder. CDP 2. Back to CDP 2 over the last few weeks after taking leave are Sergeants Tony Griffiths and Phil Walls, Privates Andy Sales, Yorky Askew and Rab Pollard. Lance Corporal Jock Cawley has proved himself in cricket- ing circles and is an asset to the platoon cricket team . . . . (as a what?). Corporal Ron Gant would like to take this opportunity to say hello to Corporal AI Simpkin, who is in Port Stanley at the moment and about to start his second summer this year! WOl Smudge Smith keeps a watchful eye on Corporal Geoff Adams since he started his ' Boss' impersonations. Finally we would like to welcome Mrs Sandra Woodley who has joined us since her arrival at Dulmen. 154 FORWARD AMMUNITION DEPOT SUMMER CAMP provided an excellent opportunity for all ranks to get away from the normal routine of Depot life and practice their military skills in a first class training environ- ment. This year's activities included orienteering, a house- clearing exercise, patrolling, CQB, fire and manoeuvre on a battle inoculation range, and a final exercise. The only notable casualty was Private Brand, who now looks to see which way twigs are pointing before he tries to sit on them. W02 Taff Davies is thinking of hanging up his rugby boots (again!) having successfully passed his coach's course and W/Lance Corporal Michelle Baker is contemplating climb- ing the North face of the BFBS tower having completed a Basic Rock Climbing Course. Staying on the courses theme, con- gratulations go to Staff Sergeant Eric Cork on gaining his QTO qualification, to Private Chris McEvoy on obtaining an 'A' Grading on his Bl Sup Spec course, also to Lance Corporal Paul and Private Steve Chisholm who, with Private Colin Green- acre, have passed their Bl. Corporal Dave Campbell has passed his Pre Ops Course and is now ' eagerly' awaiting his tour in Northern Ireland. The Officers haven't been sitting idle either, Major Peter Timothy and Captain Steve Smith have managed to pass an Intro to German course and Major Timothy has departed • again, this time with Lieutenant Alan Bristow on a sailing course. The WRAC members of 154 not wishing to be outdone by the RAOC are also in the news. Corporal Carol Skelding has passed her Bl and been promoted Sub-Corporal. Corporal Teresa Nelhams goes one better being congratulated not only for passing her Bl and being promoted Sub-Corporal but also for her recent marriage to Corporal O'Hara (ex-154). Well done Mrs O'Hara! Weddings being the disease of the day Lance Corporal Brian Murdoch is also to be congratulated on his marriage to W/Private Joyce Meek, Brian was promoted only two weeks prior to his marriage (something to do with some- one's got to be the boss of the house?) Newly married Private Deka Metcalfe is now looking for a brand new bike so that he can take his wife Deborah on holiday. Welcomes are extended to W02 Ralph Gothard, Sergeant — 188 — |
