' extended' leave from RMCS Shrivenham. The week was a great success during which we fired all our Company weapons and practiced junior leadership. The Company review which took place midweek was something not to be missed. The OC, Major Foxton, took all the ribbing in good humour. We never knew we had so much hidden talent! No sooner had we shaken the dust of Vogelsang out of our hair when we found ourselves out again—this time a two day Exercise. The first day we practised deployment, movement and operating in the field and on the second day we moved off to a village as the guinea pig Company for a TEWT for RAOC subaltern's in BAOR. Another job well done particularly Private Lewis ZZzzz! No! We're not finished yet! 11 Long Range Recce Patrol Ordnance Company moved into high gear and deployed five sections in not one but two Patrol Competitions. The first, Exercise Strong Provider, lasted over three days and was an extremely arduous and testing competition. The Company did extremely well finishing first, second, fourth and sixth out of ten teams. Well done to Corporal Harrison and his section. Sergeant Carr led his section in the Connaught Shield Patrol Competition and finished first in the Minor Units and third overall. Yes, I think that's all? It just remains for me to welcome new arrival, Private Skeldon and welcome back Corporal Dart, Lance Corporal Malcolm and Private Hiscott from the Falk- lands. Also congratulations to Corporal Turner and Lance Corporals Clay and Murfet on their recent promotion. 12 ORDNANCE COMPANY THE past three months have been a very busy time for the Company, activities include Vogelsang Training Camp, Exercise Odin Ord (Denmark), Exercise Smikes Revenge. Vogelsang training was a two week camp to put the Com- pany through its annual Mil Trg and to give the younger mem- bers of the Company the opportunity to handle and fire the GPMG, sixty six millimetre and Grenade throwing. The second phase was an escape and evasion type exercise with the normal ' hands on heads' de-kit prior to the exercise. All teams participated with great enthusiasm and drive. The odd occasion arose when teams were able to get their own back, one being when the hunter force kip area was ransacked by Sergeant Bob Ritchie's robbers leaving Staff Sergeant Tony Catchpole and Sergeant Taff Wales rather short of Mars Bars! A good exercise which was enjoyed by all. Vogelsang was followed by Exercise Odin Ord held this year as last year in Birkerod approximately twenty five kilometres from Copenhagen. Activities included mil trg, TOETS, range day, map reading followed by a combined patrol competition. It was well organised with the normal rope crossing, stretcher build /carry, NBC attack, Company attack (against a Danish Company) and shoot. Corporal Taff Rosser's team must go into print for their twenty kilometres in twenty minutes tab! During the exercise, the working raport between Brits and Danes was excellent. The remainder of Exercise Odin Ord was mainly social with soccer matches, potted sports competitions all sup- ported well gaining shared results, and local interest tours. On return to Osnabruck the Company organised and ran a mil trg weekend (Exercise Smikes Revenge) for the local Osna- bruck BFES school teachers. An escape and evasion type exercise. The teachers encountered a river crossing, rope cross- ing, veh entry within NBC boundary area, assault course, death slide/NBC kit stretcher carry and biwi building/usage. The teams of men and women had to tab distances of up to six kilometres between stands and soon learned that training shoes are not ideal footwear. All obstacles were tackled with en- thusiasm and some good ideas were put into practice. The teachers took all problems in their stride and always showed good humour. They all worked extremely hard and assured the DS that they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Now some brief notes on the home (Osnabruck) front. Congratulations to Sue Oldham for winning ' Best Shot' in the ladies shooting competition. Also to:—Private Buck and Cornelia Rodgers, Lance Corporal Fergie and Kay Ferguson, Lance Corporal Ron and Jacky King, Craftsman Dave and Patricia Cross,—on the new additions to their families. Also to Private Steve and Sharon Chambers, Private Phil and Carol McCarthy on their marriages. Welcome to new ones and fond farewells to old ones, too many to list. Advertisement. To all past 12 OFP or 2 ADOC members. If there are any past members of the ' shiny 12' or 2 ADOC reading, please forward any photos that might be of interest with names of personalities if possible to CC 12 Ordnance Com- pany, BFPO 36 for inclusion in a company lines book. All donations will be gratefully received. 13 ORDNANCE COMPANY THE Company was represented on Exercise Summer Sales by Staff Sergeant Dodd and Second Lieutenant Reddick. Staff Sergeant Dodd showed all his experience by ensuring he was on day shift throughout the Exercise! At the end of Summer Sales, it was a quick dash to Sennelager to meet the rest of the Company for a range week. The week was a great success with numerous personalities shooting extremely well; a pat on the back for Corporal Dickie, SMG best shot and, Private Ross SLR best shot. Lieutenant Woodyear, a new face in the Company, also performed magnificently, picking up the ' Golden Pillow' award and having an HPI of ten metres, well done Sir! The range week was considered good training for the RAOC BAOR skill-at- arms shoot which also took place in July, but enough said about that. After a quiet weekend with a few of the lads undertaking some community work in Munsterlager, Lieutenant Woodyear and CSM Hart had the Company running around with stretchers and sore feet in preparation for the Battle Patrol Competition. We had a near disaster when the Sergeant Major's rubber duck, which was keeping Sergeant Whitebread's head above water, deflated! The week of training was enjoyed by all, especially Private Steele Tyson who had plenty of time to zero his weapon. The training paid dividends as one of our teams, led by Sergeant Bond came third in the Patrol Competition. A well done must also go to Sergeant Bowen who prepared a team for Exercise Connaught Rat. The event consisted of military skills and lots of tabbing. Sergeant Bowen's team came a very respectable fifth beating many teams from the teeth arms. Our first social event in Munsterlager was marked by a barbecue in the Station Community Centre followed by a disco. The evening was a great success with Corporals Flash- dance Dickie and Jukebox Jukes and their wives providing some fine dancing. The food was superbly prepared and served by Corporal Gill and Lance Corporal Wright, our two ACC attachments. The unit Wives Club had a successful Coffee Morning 1 , and with our new arrivals in the unit have seen their numbers growing. — 190 — A HOME of your OWN? Is this Your Problem?
