CAPTAIN D. I. M1LLMAN REME writes: —
It is with deep regret that I report the sudden death of
Private Ken Wishart, the result of cerebal haemorrhage whilst
on a workshop run at Fallingbostel on Tuesday, 20th September,
1983.
Ken joined the Black Watch as a junior leader in December
1976 before transferring to RAOC in 1978. He served with
3 BAD in Bracht from 1978 to 1980, and then on to 6 Field
Force Ordnance Company. In July 1981 he was posted to
UNFICYP, Cyprus for six months and then to 81 Ordnance
Company in Aldershot, sailing with them in the Task Force
"to the Falkland Islands. It is sadly ironic that having survived
the active service of all of the war in the South Atlantic, he
should die so tragically in a peaceful theatre.
He will be sorely missed and remembered as an eternally
cheerful soldier who could always be relied upon to cheer any
gathering with his ready wit and happy disposition. Ken was
an excellent storeman and an invaluable and popular member
of the Stores Section team.
Sincere condolences are extended from all ranks of 16
Tank Transporter Squadron to his family in Fyfe on their
tragic loss.
