2 Infantry Division FORWARD HEADQUARTERS THIS, the first submission from us since our inception on 31st March of this year, will deal with ' who's who ' and we will save all the interesting bits for a later edition. Forward Headquarters (Formerly Headquarters 2 Armoured Division) is the BAOR element of Headquarters 2 In- fantry Division based at York. Estab- lished here is a small contingent of RAOC personnel. In all we are four strong (not many for a Division!); let us introduce ourselves. The Superintendent Clerk, recently arrived from Head- quarters BAOR, is WOl (SSM) Mick Jagger, whom we hope has a successful and interesting tour with us. The Chief Clerk is Sergeant Kevin Smith newly arrived from II Ordnance Company in Soltau and we wish him and his family an enjoyable stay here. Corporal Dave Hood looks after the classified side of life and has to be congratulated on his recent promotion to Corporal, following a long wait. Private Chris Cooper brings up the ' rear' and is looking forward to his next annual leave! Collaborating with us we also have five lovely ladies: Mrs Debbie Stevens and Mrs Anne Lloyd dealing with typing, and Sy Access in the capable hands of Mrs Rose Edge, Mrs Jean Eldridge and Mrs Connie Brown. Having men- tioned Jean Eldridge we must also mention Sergeant Pete Eldridge RE who by the amount of traces he helps us to produce must be considered a honorary Staff Clerk. Before we close may we wish the Ex-Superintendent Clerk, WOl (Cdr) Jim Prior, and his wife Doreen all the best for the future in civilian life. The former Chief Clerk, Sergeant Andy Cotton, has departed for a few months language training before taking up his new post at the British Embassy in Paris. Who does he know at M and RO? os> 13 Ordnance Company Fez Club after its inaugural meet in the Tangier Kasbah. fleet on the Falklands but will rejoin us soon, give Sergeant Goodenham (from Supply Depot Hohne) our best wishes and prepare a welcome for Sergeant Kent next month. We wel- come Private Boulton to the unit. SUPPLY DEPOT HOHNE. We had an excellent celebration party for Frau Barbara Plummer and Frau Hanelore Dankhart, who both received their twelve year meritorious service certi- ficates, well done both of you and thank you for your support, the next twelve years will fly by. Sergeant McTaggart has handed over to Sergeant Hulse. Farewell to the McTaggart family, we could say you are our forward party for Harden Barracks, we hope you enjoy being with 51 Ordnance Company; welcome to Sergeant Hulse and family. Sergeant Steele arrived back from the Falklands recently and jetted away on leave, we look forward to seeing him again soon. Welcome also to Corporal and Mrs McGinley, we hope Hohne is to your liking. We said a sad farewell to Alan Cleasby of AAS Hohne, many thanks Alan for all your ready help in the refurbishment of the unit, we all wish you the happiest of postings in Edin- burgh and look forward to seeing you at future Association get- togethers. 3 Ordnance Battalion HEADQUARTERS SINCE our last input, this Headquarters has seen a major turnabout of our civilian clerk/typists. We have bid a fond fare- well to Mrs Helen Kennett and Debbie Drohan who have gone to pastures new, and welcomed in their place Mrs Sue Lumley and Marlene Allan. No time to waste, they have been set to tasks and have quickly blended into our industrious Headquarters. Congratulations are in order to 3 Ordnance Battalion Sail- ing team who managed a creditable second place in the Division Inter Sailing Regatta recently held on our own Mohnesee Waters. The result was good enough to qualify them for the Inter BAOR Championships to be held later this month. In- dividual ' well dones' go to Lieutenant Colonel David Harris, Major Brian Mills,. Major Keith Fisher, WOl Danney Kelly (all Headquarters 3 Ordnance Battalion), Captain Mike Parsons (ASU Werl) and Lieutenant Ray LeVar (31 Ordnance Company). To end on a rather sad note, we all wish a speedy recovery to our Australian Long Looker, W 2 Ian Burns RAAOC who suffered an unfortunate accident whilst trekking in Norway with 33 Ordnance Company. Obviously, his spirit still high, he's insisting on being given local rank of ' Kernal' as he's undoubtedly a hard ' nut' to crack. More on his progress next month. STORES SECTION 7 RHA WORKSHOP THE Workshop has now moved into its new purpose built building, the only one of its kind in BAOR, and the past few weeks have been spent settling in. The Stores Section now has the room to keep all its stores under one roof. Along with our new accommodation we also received our new boss, Staff Sergeant Graham Toze from 9 Ordnance Battalion. A warm welcome to him and fond farewell to W02 Pete Wade and wife Eve, who have gone to AMF(L) Workshop in the UK. On the sporting scene, Corporal John Bennett has represented the unit at cricket and Corporal Jim McLernon at tug-of-war. Private Brian Bridges is still putting in cram-like times in the twice weekly run. Congratulations to Jim on also being a member of the win- ning team in the final of the Soldier Magazine darts foursomes representing the Vehrte Community Centre. A mention must go to Corporal Marty Palmer, Private Andy Cook and Private Ron Taylor who make up the remainder of the Section. SEND IT ,TO THE GI/G4 DIVISION. New moves are Lance Corporal Derek Draper to G3 Trg as a Corporal, Corporal Alan Robinson to SHAPE. Private Mick Curtin is handing over to W/Private Dawn Holberry from the Registry. Also Congrats to him on being selected for promotion. To replace Derek we welcome W/Corporal Ginnette Powell on transfer from G2 Int/Sy/Air, we hope you enjoy your rest. W02 Roy Bartram has been very busy moving house. Staff Sergeant Huey Ward recently escaped from his box, but was found four weeks later lazing in an American Camping site. He duly returned. We also understand that he suffered a sore throat and was unable to differentiate from a good Chianti and the local plonk! GAZETTE A short article about events—places—people is always interesting particularly when accompanied by a photo- graph.
