6th September 2nd, 4th and 5th Reserve Parks were laagered near each other at Coucuuronnes. Advance to the Aisnc 7th September Advancing once more from Coucouronnes through ( bl'bcil until reaching Coubert. The trek continued the next clay to La Houssaye. This was the second day of the move forward having been on the march almost continually since the 25th August. 10th September Considerable excitement was caused by the arrival of the first mailbags containing letters posted in England on the 30th and 31st August. The remainder of the Park moved up to Aulnoy. llth September The trek began at 5 a.m. with the object of crossing the Mame at Saacy via Jouarre. 14 A superb war time photograph showing a General Service Wagon withA.S.C. personnel and an A.S.C. 2ndLeiutenant, Franceearly 1914. The General Service wagon in the picture is the Mark XI, introduced in 1905 and was the final pattern of horse-drawn wagon used by the A.S.C, in great numbers during the First World War. Note the fly fringes on the horses' bridles to keep the flies out of the horses' eyes. |
