The Junior Leaders Battalion
YET ANOTHER TERM is behind us . And what a hectic time . the last few weeks were . In addition to the usual mad rush to complete the many interhouse competitions , examinations and end of term reports , there were the Christmas festivities to be provided for , The passing - out parade and prize - giving were held on 10th December . The hattalion was privileged to have Brigadier Hildreth to take the salute and Mrs. Hildreth who graciously consented to present the prizes . The high standard of drill and turn - out of the Junior Leaders on parade maintained the reputation the Battalion has gained for this aspect of its train ing . It is certain that the words of praise and encouragement given by the Brigadier to the assembled Junior Leaders after the parade will help to ensure that this reputation is maintained .
A particularly notable success for the Battalion was in win

Hill House has again brought honour upon itself by winning the Inter House Drill Competition and the Inter House Cham pionship . These results have brought a broad grin of satis faction to the face of House Sergeant Bollers .
The Regimental Depot having departed to maintain the Corps association with Hilsea the Battalion has now almost completed its move into the vacated Dettingen Barracks . This has been a popular move and the more cheerful accommodation is appreciated .

LT . COLONEL SAM WARNE and Major Short went to Staff StudyBare Bones " where they did their best to maintain our current doctrine on field force organisation . They returned with the feeling that some Commanders are not always very clear as to what they require to carry out their task .
The rest of the months news is little more than a catalogue of goings and comings , being the commencement of a phase of changeover for much of the School staff .
Among the Officers , Majors Mike Short and Ken Bullock have gone . The GWO will no doubt be relieved to hear of Mike's departure as it means the end of sudden damage to hist office but . Mike being prone to suddenly go through holes in the passage floor as he speeded along . We shall miss his touch at the Valentine Balls and Motor Car Treasure Hunts ; as the CI said . He was able to run the latter in a first class way , give everyone a prize and then refund the grant allotted back to Mess Funds . " ( How did he do it ? ) We are happy to see Ken Bulleek gains promotion on posting . The same to Capt . Robin Johnson who goes to Branston on promotion . He has hauled down his flag as leader of the local cubs who will also miss him very much .
These serious losses have been made good by the arrival of Majors Bangham , Mountford and Whent , and Capt . Clayton , all of whom we welcome to the School and hope that their stay will be a happy one .
We must congratulate Capts . Hulme and Cook on the arrival of additions to their families This seems to be more . than coincidence : there seems to be an element of predestination in the family attairs of young officers who join the School .
