GENERAL
1 .
Ex CORNISH VENTURE was the 16 Bn RAOC Adventure Training Exercise held at Tregantle Fort , Cornwall between 05-26 Jun 92 .

2. The ex was split into three , five day phases , each catering for a minimum of 30 personnel . The activities were as follows :
Rock climbing / abseiling .

There were also many optional activities to give personnel an element of choice in their training . These included : swimming , clay pigeon shooting , windsurfing , waterskiing , deep sea fishing . and mountain - bike riding .

3. The aim of the ex was to give as many junior ranks as possible the opportunity to undergo training away from their normal surroundings , to develop personal qualities and individual skills .
PRE - EX ADMINISTRATION AND PLANNING

4. General . Due to booking accommodation late , the choice of destinations were limited . It is therefore recommended that booking of popular destinations is done as early as possible . Although Tregantle Fort offered good access to Dartmoor for rock climbing and walking it was somewhat isolated . If wet weather had prevented some of the activities from taking place , the " wet weather " programme would have involved considerable travelling . A short two day recce carried out in early 92. This proved to be valuable in the long term planning of the ex .
