The commanding officer of 16 Battalion of the RAOC , Lieut Col Gordon Geddie , agreed that Jenny , 14 , and Helen , 13 , could try the assault course at St George's Barracks , Arncott . After instruction from the battalion's physical training staff , the girls scaled the 12ft wall and sank into the mud of the water section . " It was really fun , especially the mud , " said Jen ny , of College Crescent , Oakley . Helen preferred climbing the wall .
