THE ARMY FIXED IT FOR US !
The Commanding Officer of 16 Battalion Royal Army Ordnance Corps , Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Geddie , was recently able to fulfill the wish of Jenny Gray ( age 14 ) and her friend , Helen Elliott ( age 13 ) by allowing them to " have a go " on an Army Assault Course .
16 Battalion is based in Bicester and were approached by Mrs Shirley Gray who ably volunteered the information that her daughter had always hankered to do an assualt course after watching the Krypton Factor !
During their half term break the girls came to St George's Barracks for the day to experience the course ably instructed by the Battalion's Physical Training Staff and in the company of other children who's parents serve with the unit .
After intensive training and practise they scaled the 12 ' wall and sank into the mud of the water section , " it was really fun especially all the mud ! " said Jenny afterwards whilst Helen " especially liked the 12 ' high wall " and " didn't really want to go under the log into the muddy water , but with the help from your team I made it and now I'm so glad I did " .
After a hot shower the girls were treated to lunch in the St George's Rooms and returned to Oakley with Mum facing a hefty load for her washing machine .
Lieutenant Colonel Geddie was glad to be able to give the girls a day to remember .
